DECONTAMINATION IN PROGRESS. DECONTAMINATION IN PROGRESS. DECONTAMINATION IN -

Short Answer: No
Long Answer: See above.

That's because you're on a puny Xbox. We PC gods didn't even have the sentence finish before we were on the planet/on the Normandy.

I was on the PC. PC FOREVER.
Still, the waiting times got tedious by the time you hit Feros. Especially that damned airlock.
Just the knowledge that you may have beaten all the 'vators, but that one loading area is still watching... waiting.
I think that's one of the reasons why Virmire and Ilos were the better levels. Minimal loading-excuses, non-physics-humping Mako action, and good plot.

So what's wrong with creating fast-travel options alongside an in-game transition? You walk up to a terminal on the Presidium, choose to return to the Normandy, and boom. You're back. If you'd like, you can also take the elevator to the docking bay itself and enter through the airlock.

The one problem I see is having to actually design all the areas leading to the airlock. For every single landing spot.
Seems like a minor thing really. One artist could push it out in 5 minutes. 10 minutes tops.

I'm down with the airlock and elevators. The load screens in ME2 I liked a lot less. I second the more banter to help pass the time.

Anyone ever save before hitting and elevator and then reload to try out different characters?

Enjoy having EA spy on you through Origin while you play, master.Image IPB

Psssh, EA isn't spying. And Origin is wonderful, look at this thread.

I know, IDGAF about Origin. If I were on PC I would use it. Just messing with you.

I would've liked features like the elevators back if there was more interaction between the squad members. I got maybe... 3 conversations between ALL my squad members in those elevators. The rest was listening to news reports I'd ALREADY listened to and awkward elevator music.

Loved the airlocks. Made me feel like I was immersed and stuff.

Not all of us. I've still got a crappy IDE drive. My load times seem to be about as bad aas an XBox.

It's got to do more with memory than your hard drive I think. I think.

Hmmm..... maybe. WinXP,  and 2 gigs, but I do typically have some other processes besides ME running.

One other issue with the airlock is that the new Normandy has windows. If the ship stays docked someplace they'll have to show the dock through those rather than generic space. I'll bet that's why the airlock went away.

I love the people arguing against elevators and airlock saying it was a "pointless waste of time", but what do you call the loading screens? The elevators and Airlock served as an In-Game loading screen that lasted as long as the loading screens. They just didn't break immersion. Explain to me how your screen of NOTHINGNESS is superior to our in-game immersive mechanic? Please?

With only 2 gigs I predict your hard drive speed will factor much more than say if you had 4 gigs. The less RAM you have the more talking back and forth there'll be between the hard drive and RAM as information is purged and loaded. I have 12 gigs, so my hard drive gets bored.  Heck, a good chunk of my RAM gets bored since these are 32 bit games anyway, utilizing only about 3-4 gigs (and I think that's using the CFF Explorer tool).

I love it when a small minority complained about Elevators, the decision was to "Fix" them in the same way that you "Fix" a pet, by neutering it. So now, instead of these "Boring Elevators" with funny character interactions, we have loading screens that interrupt our immersion.

But this isn't the worst of it. Do you remember docking with the Citadel, or landing in Noveria and ACTUALLY WALKING OUT YOUR AIRLOCK, and BOOM, YOU ARE on the planet? No loading screens, now crappy cutscenes, you ACTUALLY WALKED OUT OF YOUR SHIP.

I miss this. A lot. :(

Same, nothing wrong with hiding loading times behind elevators and the airlock because it improved immersion.

Yeah I did miss the air lock sequence - and the elevators. Sure they were a little tedious, but it was those or a loading screen.

The problem with the elevators is that PC users had to sit through the entire animation even when it was done loading. The airlock, however, is something that I'd like to return.

Yeah the airlock was great. Made it feel all cool with the "decontamination in process", and the "XO Pressly has the deck". :)
Would love to see that back in some form.

I really didn't "miss" the elevators and airlock sequence in ME2. I did however, miss the squad banter. The ability to target a squad member at any time, press the talk button, and they have a witty comment...that I miss.

The "every time you board the normandy, it magically appears in deep space, then has to fly back when you want to go back to the hub world" load screen was a bit retarded, if you ask me.

Actually the majority hated the elevators and airlock. Otherwise they wouldn't have changed it. You are in the minority for liking a ridiculous, time consuming nuisance that you and others like you like to account as an actual feature to the game.

majority eh? I beg to differ, I think the split was fairly even.  People just didn't champion the cause of "saving the elevators" until after the changes were made.  You don't know what you've got till its gone.

Also the elevators and airlock weren't time consuming, they took the same amount of time as me2 loading screens.  So take your pick standard run of the mill loading screens which can be found in every other game ever, or elevators and airlocks with extra conversation, elevator music, and keeping the gamer immersed...

Yeah, thought so.

The 'majority' hated a good number of things in ME1 that ME3 is bringing back. Just saying.

I know but from what I can gather it is only the good things that I liked. The only thing from ME1 they could bring back that would absolutely ****** me off is making thermal clips magically vanish and going back to the retarded overheating system that made encounters in ME1 loleasy. That and the ****ING MAKO!

I didn't like it when they retardedly magically made thermal clips apper out of no where. After having the unlimited overheating system.

I'd rather see nothing and break my immersion (everytime i see somebody use this word i cringe) than listen to the same thing over and over everytime i play the game.

So the same guys wanting the elevators gone back on the old forums want them back?

There is no pleasing you

Personally i don't care either way

The constant decontamination warning was annoying

if they only said it once and mixed up the voice i could live with it

Yep, bring the elevators back. It's much better than watching a dull loading a screen... dunno why, but it just is.
