majority eh? I beg to differ, I think the split was fairly even.  People just didn't champion the cause of "saving the elevators" until after the changes were made.  You don't know what you've got till its gone.

Also the elevators and airlock weren't time consuming, they took the same amount of time as me2 loading screens.  So take your pick standard run of the mill loading screens which can be found in every other game ever, or elevators and airlocks with extra conversation, elevator music, and keeping the gamer immersed...

Yeah, thought so.

Except those conversations are drowned out by re-airings of old newscasts. How is it exactly immersive if I hear about "my botched rescue operation" for the twelfth time when I returned to the Citadel for the 20th time?

So the same guys wanting the elevators gone back on the old forums want them back?

There is no pleasing you

Personally i don't care either way

The constant decontamination warning was annoying

if they only said it once and mixed up the voice i could live with it

This is so true.

If the airlock comes back, I'd like Joker to have several mocking jokes and comments as you wait.

"Oh yeah commander, I'll get that airlock *right* open. Soon as this video is over"

Don't miss the airlock, don't miss the elevators. I'll take the banter, though.

If there's squad banter outside of the elevators then I'm happy without em. That's the only reason to have elevators. If that's the case, just include more squad banter (which I've heard there is PLENTY of).

However, if they HAD to bring back elevators..make them faster please. Nothing kills the experience than hearing 3 lines of dialogue that take 10 seconds to say and waiting the extra 40 seconds to get to the bottom of the elevator.

I liked the airlock and elevators. The loading screens seemed like a gross overreaction to a minor annoyance people had with ME1. They only serve to break my immersion in the game.

I love the people arguing against elevators and airlock saying it was a "pointless waste of time", but what do you call the loading screens? The elevators and Airlock served as an In-Game loading screen that lasted as long as the loading screens. They just didn't break immersion. Explain to me how your screen of NOTHINGNESS is superior to our in-game immersive mechanic? Please?

The elevators took longer, and the loadscreens permit you to cover more space than an elevator can. If Ilium and Omega had had elevators rather than loadscreens they would have come across as even tinier than they were.

Short Answer: No
Long Answer: See above.

So you prefer the equally long Loading Screens?

But they are NOT equally long. See, with a harddrive install on my 360, it substantually speeds load times up. But the problem is, the elevators have a set amount of time that they are forced to take at a set movement speed, while actual load screens get the benefit of the install. So actually, the elevators are objectively longer, period.

Xerxes52 wrote...

Eh, not really. Not that the loading screens are much better, since they run the whole loading video even if
the map is done loading.

For ME3, Bioware should stick with the loading screens, but make them cut off once the map has loaded (mainly for the console, since PC users can just go in and fix it themselves easily).

I can confirm that to be untrue. For example, if I'm on the bottom-most level of the Normandy SR2 (where Grunt and Jack are) and select the top most floor, Shepard's room, the load video doesn't even have enough time to show the elevator reaching the floor above it (Miranda and Garrus' floor) before the load completes and I'm in the Captain's Nest. With ME1 elevators, I would have to actually go up that whole way instead of it taking 5 seconds.

Yes. It added so much to the immersion.

In ME2 you just magically appear on the planet. Even KOTOR 1 and 2 let you walked out of the Ebon Hawk.

I miss it. I miss the feeling of actually stepping in and out of the ship, I miss the voice...

"Logged: the Commanding Officer is aboard. XO Pressly stands relieved."

Gives me goosebumps every time...

Immersion isn't everything if it's annoying. You know what else would add immersion? Having a toilet meter that makes you have to rush to a toilet and make your Shepard relieve themselves or they go in their armor/clothes. Doesn't sound appealing? But you like immersion!

The 'majority' hated a good number of things in ME1 that ME3 is bringing back. Just saying.

The Mako better not be one of them.

No it was a waste of space and really had nothing except to avoid loading screens. People hated it after ME1 and, if it comes back, people will hate it in ME3.

I know but from what I can gather it is only the good things that I liked. The only thing from ME1 they could bring back that would absolutely ****** me off is making thermal clips magically vanish and going back to the retarded overheating system that made encounters in ME1 loleasy. That and the ****ING MAKO!

I didn't like it when they retardedly magically made thermal clips apper out of no where. After having the unlimited overheating system.

The codex tells all.

yes. if they could re-tool it with a scene of shepard actually putting their armour on/taking it off to keep the flow, it'd be even cooler. I also want smoke/alarms to go with it.

Did I enjoy elevators and/or airlocks in ME1? No, not really. Did I miss them in ME2? Sometimes, the air lock way more than random elevators. Do I want them back for ME3? YES!! The reason is if they can do them so that its a quick load and it isnt boring. I love the immersion, I hate the wait.

Yeah, I miss the elevators and docking screen, too. Anything that doesn't break that connect I have with the game like a loading screen does. The only thing worse that those loading screens is that stupid "MISSION COMPLETE" screen. Nothing jars me like that thing.

I also enjoyed the airlock in ME, it made traveling around that much more immersive. Can't say I miss the elevators, but if I had to choose between them and ME2's loading screens, it would be elevators all the way.

I'd rather they just implemented banter like in DA than bring back elevators, since that was the only thing elevators really brought to the table.

The load screens don't bother me one iota.

I love it when a small minority complained about Elevators, the decision was to "Fix" them in the same way that you "Fix" a pet, by neutering it. So now, instead of these "Boring Elevators" with funny character interactions, we have loading screens that interrupt our immersion.

But this isn't the worst of it. Do you remember docking with the Citadel, or landing in Noveria and ACTUALLY WALKING OUT YOUR AIRLOCK, and BOOM, YOU ARE on the planet? No loading screens, now crappy cutscenes, you ACTUALLY WALKED OUT OF YOUR SHIP.

I miss this. A lot. :(

Hear hear!
