I love it when a small minority complained about Elevators, the decision was to "Fix" them in the same way that you "Fix" a pet, by neutering it. So now, instead of these "Boring Elevators" with funny character interactions, we have loading screens that interrupt our immersion.
But this isn't the worst of it. Do you remember docking with the Citadel, or landing in Noveria and ACTUALLY WALKING OUT YOUR AIRLOCK, and BOOM, YOU ARE on the planet? No loading screens, now crappy cutscenes, you ACTUALLY WALKED OUT OF YOUR SHIP.
I miss this. A lot.
I've said it repeatedly since the day ME2 came out.
The Transitions in ME2 are pathetic.
In ME1 we went from location to location practically seemlessley.
In ME2 we pretty much teleported everywhere with no sense of where we were or where we came from.
Bioware used the loading screen schematic things to tell us what was going but they were rubbish to the point of being abstract.
Hell, Fallout and Elderscrolls do it far better and those games have 5 minute loading times.
Taxis for instance. We saw Shep and crew get out of them - even having conversations in them, so we know the animations and objects are there. But it's obviously too much to ask for a small cutscene where they get in it and take off.
Transitions. - Another example that makes it seem as though ME2 was rushed out the door.
Hell, if they don't want the long elevator rides then they could still be done as loading screens..
Just have it...
Walk into elevator - Loading screen - walk out of elevator.
Get in taxi and flu off - loading screen - land taxi and get out
Exit Normandy in Shuttle - Loading screen - land shuttle and get out
enter airlock - loading screen - exit airlock
It's not rocket science but for ME2 Bioware decided to ditch the first step and leave it as the just the second two.
Nowhere near elevator or door - Loading screen - Stood outside elevator.
Click on terminal - Loading screen - land taxi and get out
Click map - Loading screen - land shuttle and get out
Nowhere near elevator or door - Loading screen - Stood outside airlock

I absolutely HATED that every time you went back to the Normandy in ME2 there had to be a take off scene. I just want to go equip my new armor piece why do I have to watch the ship take off, then fly it back and watch it land again?

I guess it was made that way because when you look out of the Normany's window there's always empty space.

Too bad kiddies today can't take something like that and need their "streamlining"....

I liked the Elevators and the Airlock.
If the Mako returns, it should be like it was on Feros: Non-NOrmandy.

Hear hear!
Even the part where he's lying about no loading screens? Or doesn't the decontamination sequence count?

Yes on airlock and elevators.
Actually I got a very funny scene in ME2 relating to that. It only opens up if you are with Tali and Garrus and you walk down one of the flights of stairs on the Citidel.
Garrus: "Don't you miss the conversations we'd have on the elevators in the Cididel?"
Tali: "I have a shotgun."
Garuus: "We'd share our adventures and experiences and bond. Good times."
Tali: "I mean it. I have a Shotgun."
I am going from memory, but I think it's pretty close.
-Polaris
Garrus: You ever miss those talks we had on the elevators?
Tali: No.
Garrus: Come on, remember how we'd all ask you about life on the flotilla? It was an opportunity to share.
Tali: This conversation is over.
Garrus: Tell me again about your immune system.
Tali: I have a shotgun.
Garrus: Maybe we'll talk later...

EDI: Decontamination in progress.
Kasumi: Do you really have to say that every time we leave the Normandy?
Joker (on speaker): Heh that's what I was thinking.
EDI: Perhaps I should put on some music whilst I'm decontaminating everyone. (Brown Girl In The Ring by Boney M is playing).
Kasumi: Knack if off EDI.
Grunt: This tune is giving me a headache.
Shepard: I like this tune. Play it louder.
EDI: Affirmative Shepard. She looks like a sugar in a plum, plum, plum. Decontamination complete.
Grunt: I hate you Shepard.

Especially the whole remark from the Normandy stating that XO Pressley has the deck.
I loved in ME1 when you were heading to the Citadel Tower from the Presidium to have a little talk with the Council and after you activated the elevator you can see yourself rising, rising into the very place you intended to go and you knew and could see you were entering the Citadel Tower rather then being instantaneously placed there after the loading screen. The scale of it was awesome. Sure some more banter would have helped a lot but the whole concept of it was fresh.
By every means is that better then a repetitive loading screen that shows up every time you enter a new area... hell even a little room!
I REALLY hope this makes a return in ME3. Anyone hear of any remarks or hints to if it is or not?
I do know that BioWare has stated that the Citadel is larger then ever with rumors that much of its level design from ME1 has been reused and reworked. Potential hint of elevators/airlock return?

So yeah I miss the Airlock thing and a lot of other little touchs like that. And while the biggest issue with the Elevators where they where to long in general - that same issue is still there in ME2, except the load screens are irritating to look at.
And the Airlock thing only really went 1 way. You still left the Normandy via the galaxy map, just you'd get back onto the ship via the airlock. heh and then yeah 'Magical Cloths'. I'd love more seamless touchs like that but simply allowing weapon/armor customization via the 'request new squadmate' menu section instead of having to load up the Normandy would also do wonders.

That was the worst example you could use. You do realize that the specific elevator you mentions is actually an abridged trip, and that the elevator is much longer, and even changes direction mid trip, right? The Citadel tower has a capital L shape, because the tower goes in the same direction as the wards, not sideways to them like the Presidium. Because of that, there is a direction change, as you go from raising off the Presidium, and then change direction towards the wards as you go up the tower. That is why when the elevator is locked down at the end of ME1, the area outside the elevator is absolutely nothing like what you always see from inside it, because you was on the second part the elevator always skipped and never showed.
Sp really, that isn't immersive because it's literally skipping half the entire elevator ride to speed it up.

That's just nitpicking...
You mean to tell me you preffer..
Press a key - teleport to location - have no idea where you are in context to any where else and go WTF where the hell am I?!
over...
Go to elevator - Ride elevator - Get out of elevator and know exactly where you are.
