Elevators and Airlocks were revolutionary things that eliminated a lot of loading screens.
Bioware disappointed me with ME2 by taking out the elevators and airlock.
I hate going up and down levels in the Normandy SR2 because of the same exact loading screen every single time.
At least in elevators and airlocks, you can admire Shep's face, armor, or even squadmate armor and faces.
When I played The Arrival DLC, I was honestly happy to go up and down elevators
....or rotate the camera to get a nice view of their asses. Yup, am I only person that did this or what?
No, I think everyone did, if only because it relieved the monotony.
I have to laugh at everyone who keeps saying that "you look at the same screen all the time in ME2!" and then fail to realize that the elevator ride itself doesn't change visually either. You can look at Shepard (the same person that you look at for the entire game) or your squadmates (which you get better views of in actual dialogue), but there's just as little to actually
do as the actual loading screens. You wait, and that's that. I for one would like to minimize waiting time, and fill it with interesting gameplay. Don't really care what that gameplay is. Combat, dialogue, mini-games, vehicle driving, boning your LI, whatever. Just reduce the load times and I'll be happy.
