All I have to say is, you ****ing nerds...

lmao, my thoughts exactly!

If caring about quality makes me a nerd then hell yeah, I'm a nerd.

Yyyyep.

Being a nerd is a good thing, imho...

Just sayin' ;)

When it comes to Mass Effect and Dragon Age (albeit not to the same degree) my nerd factor is at Warp 9.5.
When travelling in calmer waters (Star Wars, Star Trek, B5, Elder Scrolls, Fallout) my nerd level plataus to a gentle impulse engines only policy. :wizard:

Considering I don't think Drew wants to keep writing for ME (after all, he left for TOR, and I imagine he might want to stay away after this book), who should replace Dietz?

Because honestly, I don't think you'll find that many great writers that want to write books for a video game, that have a proven track record.

The click the links and then select them in the address bar and hit enter. For some reason the links mess up, but you can still load the strips manually.

They need a writer who is a true fan of the series.

Proves that the mass effect universe has matured to a point where Bioware has be careful not to contradict its lore. Good to know that Bioware is listening to us fans.

I would just like to state that just becuase a gay character was "ogling asari strippers" does not make him straight or bisexual.  Remember that asari have the ability to look appealing to all forms of sentient life, no matter what gender race or sexual orientation he or she may be.

While that may be the case, such an event would probably still warrant some sort of comment, there was none.

I think it can be safely assumed William C. Deitz will not be called back to write another Bioware genre novel.

That's never been proven, all we have are those three fools at a bar getting jealous over a stripper.

Hendel's actions in Deception are about as bizarre as Kai Leng's, who apparently has gotten over being a xenophobic sociopath, and now flirts with asari, and Gillian's notorious recovery from autism.

And I don't think Drew got tired of writing Mass Effect, in one of his most recent twitter posts, he says how ME will always have a special place in his heart, but he is swamped with work for TOR, and he can't very well abandon that project to rewrite Deception.

.... As much as I want him to.

I think Eric Nylund from "Halo: The Fall of Reach" & "Halo: First Strike" could possibly do justice to a Mass Effect Novel.

In Retribution, Kai Leng slashed an Asari's throat for basically no reason. Now he claims to be racist, but doesn't act like it at all.

And yet he has that nonsense about him not minding the fact that he is one. It's like Dietz thinks that just saying things about a character through exposition is enough. He doesn't actually have to act racist, because we all know he is.

I don't get the deal with the Autism binge you guys have.
You can grow up to be a normal person even if you do have Autism.

I don't see how Gillian can't be a functioning adult with Autism when others have shown they can. At most it should be mentioned in the book

Uh, not all autism is the same; there are various levels of severity, and regardless, its not even mentioned at all.

That's the biggest problem most of us have. We're not saying Gillian couldn't "Overcome," her social anxieties, but not that fast, not that completely, and again, its not mentioned once in that entire "Book."

From Retribution:

“However, the alien w***e is expendable. If you get a chance, kill her.”

And a witness to what? That completely unidentified people took Grayson? Why would that matter? Leng kills he because he thinks she's worthless.

In retribution he's flirting with them , and grinning, and ogling them. Seems like a bit of a departure.

Spot on. Just like a hundred other things in the book, the argument is pointless. Sure, there are lots of ways to explain many of these errors. But Dietz DOES NOT EXPLAIN THEM. He just presents them as facts. I don't feel like I should have to fill in the gaps, that's the author's job.

1. I understand that and the link evem covers these different levels of Autism.  It's covered in my example.

2. We don't know if the majority of her condition was natural or cause by the drugs give to her. Remeber, her last treatment nearly killed her.

3. It is difficult to over come autium. It take alot of dedication from a gurdian of the child for it to happen. Gillian had that with Hendel on the duarian ship as well as a buff of help with the suit they wore.

My point is that it's not out of place that she over came it, many people have. At most it should be mention or she at least have anxiety attacks which she has reactions to help her through it like counting, listing, or even focusing her biotic for a while. No more attacking everything, just something she does that calms herself down.
It in itself is not something to take issue with but the fact that it's not referance is the only problem.

It's not the only problem. It's hard to explain. But if Dietz had made some effort to explain it, that would be in improvement. But he didn't. So what are you arguing the point for? Coming up with the alternate explanations doesn't make the book any less terrible.
