Who knows. Things might have changed. Unless new files in the new demo say otherwise.

A part of me is hoping that, before going Gold & seeing the reaction to Derpception, Bioware have sneaked a little cereal reference into the game. It won't happen, of course.

Bioware put Blasto references in Mass Effect 2 DLC. They might put cereal references in Mass Effect 3 DLC if they are sneaky and like the meme.

Perhaps like a cereal commercial over the newscasts that don't exist on Omega, calling it Deep Space Clusters or Pulsar Crunch or something.

Speaking of the cereal line, would you want them to edit that bit out in the Edited Edition?

Does anyone know if they will just have Dietz fix the errors made in the book or will there be a new writer/story all together?

Yes.  Yes, I absolutely would.

Now that I think about it, I wonder how much shorter the book would be if they just took out all the references to people stopping to eat.  Think of all the space freed up for character development.

Deception revolves around a non-autistic Gillian who is 18 instead of 15. The only way to fix Deception is to redo the whole thing.

Coupled with the fact that it was written with the same blood-churning intensity of an average grocey shopping list...

*maniacal giggling*

He he he. I'll need bleach... Yes I'll definitely need bleach. Maybe I'll pick up some new pliers for the nails, yes yes. I should buy more pliers. My last set is definitely too damaged from the last time.

Oooh, I'll also need some starter fluid and a long handled lighter. My last one is out of fuel... I really should have controlled myself better last time.

Hmm, should I get a filleting knife? Yes, I think so. My other one is so hard to sharpen I might as well get another one.

Yes, I think that's it. Wait here my friend, I'll be back shortly.

*muffled whimpering*

//I'm sorry, this was just the first thing that came to mind when you said that sentence. I really should get some help...

Well with Gillain the only thing that requires her to be 18 is going to Omega alone, and getting into Afterlife (if they care age restrictions).

Autistic wise, you can always explain that she never really was, and just effected by the drugs Cerberus gave her. Which was always a reason given in the second book, with the hint that she might get better.

As for the low level security compared to what we've seen in ME2, just write an excuse that a computer virus has messed them all up, forcing C-Sec to use a lower replacement till repairs are made.

Now as for the Jewel that Grayson never gave her, that could be given to her by Sanders when they meet on the Citedal. Something Grayson setup to be sent to her if he was ever declaired dead. Telling her to give it to Gillian when or if she returns.

As for the footage, well, it can't be what it was. So that part of the ending needs to go. My idea would be to change it to footage of Gillian's real parents getting murdered by Cerberus in order to obtain her. And the ending changed to Anderson and Sanders watching it, and putting the pieces together as to why Gillian wanted revenge. That she was tired of being hunted. She was experimented on. Her father was killed and experimented on. And her real parents were murdered.

And I would have changed TIM motives for going after her to him simply wanting to capture her. But because she's too strong of a biotic, and kills a team he sent after her, he'd rather kill her and use her corpse for research, as well as killing a future problem.

Those are the kind of changes I can think of to fix a few things.

However, whatever fixes can't fix lack of character development, or characters making stupid choices. Those need real added material where we actually get to know and understand these characters, instead of just "Nick hangs out with friends he never interacts with in the book, beyond recruiting him. Then joins a gang on Omega because "Biotic Gangs can change the galaxy!". Then falls for a girl who barely has one scene." Fixing **** like this needs real work. Not a quick change.

Except that she was diagnosed with autism at age 3, well before she started getting drugged by Cerebrus agents. :?

Same with Hendel just allowing Gillian to walk off without trying to stop her. Same with him not trying to convince Gillian that they shouldn't try to go after Cerberus, since it's suicide. Same with Gillian honestly believing TIM himself would appear just for Leng. Or the Biotic Underground thinking it's a good idea to rob Aria's bank, and remaining on Omega.

You need real fixes for stuff like this, that involve actually writing new pages.

I don't remember any detail about that coming from Cerberus, TIM, or Grayson. You sure?

From Ascension:

Kahlee knew he was referring to biotics, rather than academics. Even among the remarkable children of the Ascension Project, Gillian was special. At age three she had been diagnosed with a mild form of high functioning autism; it had almost caused the board to reject her application to the Academy. Ultimately they had relented, partly because of a large donation Grayson had generously provided and partly because Gillian had shown far greater potential than any of the other students . . . or any other individual in the short history of recorded human biotics.

Alright, here's what's in ascension, from Grayson.

"Her symptoms began to manifest sometime between the ages of three and four. An unnamed dissociative disorder, the expert told him. Easy to diagnose but difficult to treat. Not that they hadn't tried, unleashing a barrage of drug and behavior therapies on the young girl. Yet their efforts had been in vain. With each year she grew more distant, more closed off. Trapped inside her own mind."

Like I said, it seems more likely the autism was just more of an effect of drugs then a real condition. The Academy probably had her registered as autistic.

But anyways, lore fixes aside can't fix a bad plot, lack of character development, and paragraphs written by a writer who's uninterested in writing anything more then boring exposition.

It always seemed more to me that the drugs started after she was diagnosed.

Even so, it's unnamed as the expert said. Could it had been something that could have been solved, but Cerberus didn't care and made it worse? The book makes many notes on that possibility.

The other direction is that she really was cured by the last drug they gave her, and some Pro-Cerberus fans have put up in defense. That's another possibility that could be used.

The one that stopped her heart?

But there is one problem with this. Cerberus wanted Gillian in Ascension project and she was nearly refused for her mental state. If Cerberus was responsibele for this or could make it better, they will simply stop with their experiments or help her so she could be accepted to project. The experiments would start later when she got safely on academy.
