I love these rage comics, but is it just me, or is the actual story getting even dumber than before?
I think it's making me cringe.

From what I recall, that author has a bit of a... reputation. She used to write Star Wars novels with a focus on Mandalorians, expanding their background but also ended up idealizing them to the point of absurd (showing them as superior to every other being in the galaxy, as "acknowledged" by Jedi themselves, for one); and reacted to fan protests by comparing die-hard fans to terrorists, basically. Needless to say, it didn't go too well from there. Eventually she moved on, and her "pet faction" was cut back down to size with numerous retcons. I heard she immediately created another idealized faction within GoW universe, as well...gearseffect wrote...
Another lady who may work is Karen Travis she wrote all the Gears of War Novels and she did a great job with the character development.
I really loved what Travis did in the Gears novels and I've been a big Gear Head since E3 2006 (god that was an epic year), She did more for that universe than Cliff and Epic did for their characters.Core_Commander wrote...

It's established at this point that Deception fails as both a tie-in as well as a novel, period, but I would be kind of worried what could come from Traviss writing a ME book. Another militaristic faction with a cool name, like, say, Blue Suns elevated to invincible saviors of the galaxy, that even Spectres look up to, perhaps?

That actually is a stretch. Her condition rendered her near unable to access her biotics at all. If they cared about her tapping into her power and the drugs were stopping that, it doesn't make sense that they'd continue.TMA LIVE wrote...

It always seemed more to me that the drugs started after she was diagnosed.TMA LIVE wrote...
Like I said, it seems more likely the autism was just more of an effect of drugs then a real condition. The Academy probably had her registered as autistic.
Even so, it's unnamed as the expert said. Could it had been something that could have been solved, but Cerberus didn't care and made it worse? The book makes many notes on that possibility.
But there is one problem with this. Cerberus wanted Gillian in Ascension project and she was nearly refused for her mental state. If Cerberus was responsibele for this or could make it better, they will simply stop with their experiments or help her so she could be accepted to project. The experiments would start later when she got safely on academy.
That's explainable. With Gillian's condition, whatever it was, can't be ignored. You could easily tell something is wrong with her. So it's not like that could send her to the Ascension program without stating that "this girl is special".
Cerberus doesn't stop experiments if they give results. The goal for them was to unlock more power. And as the book states, she was becoming less of a biotic instead of better. Which is why they sent her to a school. They don't care about making her better mentally. They just care that she's able to tap into more of her power.
Which is why Jiro continued to experiment after she had a huge episode.

Well, I know Dietz read the books in some shape or form. Mainly because some descriptions are copied and pasted from past books. Or written too similar.
However, I bet he wrote this book A) while also writing other projects, and doing whatever he needed to do for them. AndWhile skipping the three other books in different orders. And C) While also playing the games as he claims.
Looking at his page and others, he has written "A Fighting Chance" and "Resistance: A Hole in the Sky" in 2011 (As well as Mass Effect: Deception). Plus writing the Resistance: Burning Skies for PS Vita, and Legend of the Damned for iOS devices. And "Star Craft: Heaven's Devil", "Bones of an Empire" in 2010.

Good new for Dietz once ME3 comes out people will be able to excuses his butchering as the work of an outsider unlike BW's own in house butchering.
BW will get a horde of negative feedback from the fans due to BW's definition of "A no hold bared epic conclusion for all fans of ME. Fans will have a satisfying conclusion to there own ME experience and the relationships they've developed with the characters"
I hope I'm wrong but it's just a sign that I can somehow hope for the best when the worst is sure to come.
It's a sliver of hope and likely false hope.
