GENIUS!
Though the death scenes were way more emotional than in the actual book, I'm impressed.

Maybe it's just me, but the comic links don't show up.
You must copy-and-paste it, many had the problems.
I was really considering to buy this book until yesterday when I found out about the controversy. And maybe it was becouse "Ascension" was the only ME book I´ve ever read, but Gillian dying broke my heart. I really don´t know if BW will really do such a massive re-write as we would need.

I can't really see how they could fix this book. Sure, they can easily edit out the more glaring errors like Gillian & Nick's rapid aging, Hendel's stripper oogling and Aria forgetting she's Biotic or that that her family name is an alias, but the plot is so bad and pointless, it would need a massive rewrite to salvage things.
I just don't see how Del Ray or BioWare would want to waste anymore money on a book that's already radioactive with nerd hate. Best to just stick a fork in the Mass Effect novels for a few years and hope everyone forgets about this little fiasco before trying again with somebody new, perhaps someone who's actually familiar with Mass Effect beyond whatever research materials his editor gave him.

I think that BW would start new series even without this epic Dietz fail. Story of Kahlee caught up ME3 and because that huge decisions in it will be very difficult to continue in Kahlee series and tolerate all possible decisions in same time. I think, they have 4 options now:
1) History books - First contact war, Rachni wars...
2) Another book from game era.
3) Paragon x Renegate space - my favourite options of two alternative universes. That renegate one should be interesting.
And about choosing new author, why they wan't do something like Halo:Evolutions? Stories from different authors, whose are able to write whole book, and let fans to say, which one is good and who is another Dietz? Or maybe to connect it with some fan competetion, where 2, 3 best tsories will be added to book? It should be good precautionary measures after Dietz.

Seriously, do they even bother with editing and checking the background? I´m not out for a witch-hunt, but this certainly was embarrassing and disrespectful both towards us AND the Mass Effect universe.
I´m aware that Dietz may not have had the time to read himself to deep into the lore (even though I think he should at least have read the books - and if he did...well...), but someone from Bioware/Del Ray should have cleared up everything for him etc.
Also, what´s with the plot? I suppose Bioware is responsible for it, but I don´t quite get what they wanted to do with it... Kill (almost) all new characters they´ve introduced till now? Showing the council is incredibly dumb (and making it even more unelievable they prepared undercover if this were to be shown in ME3 - I know, it´s highly improbable, but a man can dream, can´t he?
Ah well, I guess we´ll have to wait and see how this develops.

It's a real shame that the comics have ended.
We should beg author for his own next part, but forcing him to think like Dietz... it woould be sooo cruel.

There is already a next part, and that's the Mass Effect Invasion comic which hilariously doesn't fit with Deception at all.
Thanks for the comic, of course. I hope we´ll get the toothbrush as optional weapon for ME3 final boss fight.

I can just see it now. The next big ME book will have 30 chapters. The catch? You can only get chapters 5, 15, and 30 if you buy the hardback special edition.
Dont forget that the hardcopy book is essential to undestanding the story gap from "YAY we beat the reapers" to "the galaxy was turned into a fascist dictatorship ruled by "My little pony" minions who had experienced a technological singularity and was ruling the galaxy with a pink Iron fist by way of the cunning use of Heerings".

Cerberus went from being all but destroyed to being stronger and better than ever I really wanted some inside knowledge as to how this happened, but instead we got some abomination of garbage that just makes me want to use a shank toothbrush on some Jedi just to see if my shank is a match against the power of the Force.
On a side note but concerning a loyalist Cerberus Operative I don't plan on going to the character discussion thread anytime soon given how I was assaulted by a group of fans (this group consisted of 2 up tight way too obsessed serious fans) for attempting to make a case of why certain Loyalist Operative with pants riding up their @ss Crack would be best used off Shepard's squad full time for plot reasons. All hypothetical on my part but I got verbally assaulted by 2 members for making a simple case of why not to include said character in full time squad. I'm only posting this her because the 2 members never seem to be seen over here.
I may go apologize to Tali Fans in the Tali thread given they've never attacked me like that before and I've given them more than enough reason to.

I hadn't been aware that it was actually released untill now, and was considering buying it, on the premise of the previous books. Good thing I read the reviews and followed the links to find out about the book.
Seems like quality is running downhill for some reason. Despite my enthusiasm for the previous books, this one and future books will be avoided by me. It's obvious to me by now, that quality means less than quantity, as far as the 'new' company line seems to be.

No, the books will be about toothbrushes, not the reapers. The reapers were a plot device. You still get a complete book about toothbrushes without the 3 chapters with reaper components.
