So it might be somewhere in the 61 pages of this thread, but has Bioware said how the heck such glaring errors were made in the first place?   It's like the author and the editor both had little to no previous knowledge of any Mass Effect games, novels, or comics.

No official explanation made.
My personal guess - Dietz is someone, who unhealthy rely on editors work (f. e. number of mistakes in names of his own characters suggesting it) and BW editors terribly underestimate chances of co-working with total freelancer (Gaider and Karpyshin were both part of game team). And because DIetz's literal quallities are very low in long terms, disaster Deception was born.

Ah so yeah if the author was a total freelancer then he had no idea what he was writing and was just making stuff of his own up on the fly and the editor was out to lunch and didn't notice? LOL

And this ladies and gentlemen, is why you NEVER hire a freelancer to work on a franchise book.

Not every freelancer is bad, f.e. I had no problem with G. Christie, but Dietz is infamously special case. Most funny and sad on this is that Dietz said he played all games, read all books, made many notions (really, his words). I have a little suspission that this guy or his literall agent got somewhere Advanced car salesman perk and had lucky throw in Persuasion, when he spoke with BW about this book.

Yeah. If he played the game he'd know how quarians dress, not what was it a "motley collection of various scraps of clothing sewn together with lots of straps and buckles" or something like that?

Or maybe he totally hated Tali'Zorah and so didn't ever use her...

The one good thing to come from ME3's ending is that deception will Have 0 impact on ME4. It has to take place a good ways into the future.

So yeah, Deception is only referenced once in ME3, and even so, it's not accurate to the book.

Anderson says he met Leng on Omega, and he was stronger then ever. When it fact, Anderson never met Leng on Omega in deception (he got away before that could happen), and he had bad legs.

I think it's clear after Finishing ME3 why no one at bioware's aves rip about this story. What's the point of worrying when these character's no longer have a use

No, he says something like this: "I shot his legs. But then I met him on Omega, and he was stronger then ever". Not the other way around.

Yes . . . If you read ME: Retribution thats when Anderson did that . . . Read the ME wiki it will fill you in on it. . .Deitz must have it mixed up. . . Leng and Anderson met on Omega where Leng takes both Anderson n Kahlee as bait for Grayson. . . .afterward Anderson shoots Leng in the Legs . . .

Just because you have the ability to listen doesn't mean you should act upon it. BioWare ethos.

I was hoping this would surface again. To all of the pretentious self-important people out there who swear "art" can't be altered, I submit this.

-I just find it highly amusing to compare the OP with some of the other "press releases" we have gotten here recently.

I mean... they must REALLY think we are that stupid.

If we are lucky there won't be second edition. When BioWare told us that there would be second edition that opened a possibility to drop Deception in it's current form from canon. Now when there is one more contradiction with the games revealed, Anderson saying that he met Leng in Omega when he didn't, people can even imagine that Gillian is still alive in some Quarian exploring the dark space.

Question: I just can't get myself toplay ME3 again so does anyone remember if there was any mention of Nick Donahue in the game?

"Art" can be altered due to feedback, it would seem.

Considering the multitude of errors in this book, it sounds easier to drop it from canon and move on, rather than reissue it. Or in lieu of that, DLC!

It doesn't work that way. Products that have a story in universe are canon by default.
