No, it hasn't been fixed yet.... and I have a lingering suspicion that it never will, despite what BW and Del Ray claimed. <_<

At this point, I think you'll have a better chance of seeing Sweawm's "True Deception" fanfic being finished first (www.fanfiction.net/s/8154039/1/Mass_Effect_bTrue_b_bDeception_b) before any official re-issued/corrected version of Deception gets released.

Well, I'll just go ahead and "bump". Because BioWare needs to make good on their promises.

How can you say that? I think you just didn´t "get" the novel, pal. Best they send you up to 20 pages that clarify what´s happening for free. That will make things better. Worked the last time.

Oh its you again ;)

Long silence is usually a bad omen especially in the case like this one.

I heard that the book is so bad (in its current state) that it becomes amusing rather than annoying ;D

I assume it would make a pretty decent tinder if necessary.

Glad I didn't buy the book, and ruin what I loved about the previous three books. I won't hold my breath for a rewrite nor will I hold my breath that they will try and get Drew involved to put things straight (and vice versa for Hendel).

I doubt it would work as a doorstopper though. Too thin :P

I was about to buy it, but then I heard about the reception and decided not to. U mad BW?

Drew is retired from BW and has alot of things to do, frankly I think he doesn't even care about ME anymore... unless money talks..

I honestly think they're just dumping it. And for good reason. It's unfixable, and no one wants it.

Worse, it wouldn't surprise me if they give up producing ME novels altogether - which is a real shame, as I really liked where they were going with the books up until Deception (Retribution was my fave).

Its really annoying - its not like a publisher has never had to keep a non-literature franchise made up of several different contributory authors together before (Halo, Star Wars etc). Really, they should have done better.

It really did stun me how so many errors crept through.

While Dietz certainly must shoulder some blame, where were the checks from Bioware on this? Surely the book had to be 'approved' for consistency before release, especially since some of its elements were used in ME3.

I think novels were over already and Deception was published just because EA/BW had a contract for 3 books with publisher. I think ME comics are/were supposed to take novels place.

Personally, I don't know if ME comics will live much beyond ME: Home Worlds.

Hahahaha, that's a good one!

I have the book and have never opened it, I don't ever intend to read it though I may to use it as evidence if I ever need to plead 'insanity' to some sort of crime. I also have zero confidence that Bioware is actually going to fix this, they just keep rolling out th elies and when they're found out they go into hiding.

Ah, yes, "Responsibility", the notion that, in this instance, saying you're going to fix something you shouldn't have allowed to happen in the first place means being held accountable if you turn out not to be true to your word.

*waves hand dismissively* We have dismissed that claim.

At this point. I have given up on them fixing this. I think the backlash the ending caused in ME3 pretty much sealed this book's fate. They'll let it quietly fade out of people's memories.

Honestly, that's OK with me. I think the vast majority of the series' fandom considers it utterly noncanon at this point, and frankly, the book needed more than just a simple rewrite.

Actually, I had a conversation about Deception with Chris Hepler at Comic Con.

He said they are indeed in the process of fixing it. We talked about the changes to the book, and some of the things (like the dismissal of Gillian's autism) would require an extensive re-write of the book. I got the impression such an extensive re-write would require more resources and time than they had to put into it. What they are doing about the autism issue is saying that her severe symptoms were a result of the drugs Cerberus was giving her. Apparently she's still high-functioning autistic/Asperger's but they had to come up with a reason why she's more normal. I buy it, because my sister is high-functioning and she is pretty normal at 20 years old.

Though, Chris Hepler's comment on reading Deception and the part with the batarian ship was priceless: "THEY PUT A F---ING TANTALUS DRIVE CORE IN THIS???" Lol!

I never got an idea of when they'd be re-releasing the book, though.

I hope they do fix it - even though it's quite amusing in it's present form. I (also) really liked Retribution and was looking forward to Deception.
