After this amount of time, and the distractions caused by the endings of Mass Effect 3, they've likely written it off as a bad job.

I also think that they've given up on the idea of releasing a 'fixed' edition of the book.

Indeed. Although after ME3 - I really don't have any further interest in what the Mass Effect galaxy has to show me either.
I wonder how the extra bits and pieces outside of the games will hold up in the future now.

Im at least glad to see people posting on this subject still. I havent read deception for obvious reasons but am still happy to re-read the first three books for now untill pending announcement from BW. Also, Im pretty happy with the graphic novels which makes me stoked for the upcomming Homeworlds hardcover!
I thought they said it's not hardcover?

Shame there's so much radio silence about Deception. I didn't dislike the previous three books, enjoyed them enough for what they were, and the inconsistencies for Deception really turned me off and I'm glad I've held off for now. I do hope we get a new date soon, though.

Yup. Bioware has apparently outright lied to us about this, as evidenced by their claim they were going to do a revised edition.

Mind you, the sh*t storm is not as bad as it was 5 months ago, but it is still pretty bad.
Just go into the story discussion forum...then try playing the BSN drinking game - even now you may die of alcohol poisoning.

Ya they thier selling the pre-order of a collectors edition hard cover in the bioware store. It would be cool if they looked at making post me3 comics.

I think the ending of the game is a problem. It seems that BioWare cornered itself. You know, should the characters in the post ME3 comics be green or not green?MANINTHECREEK wrote...

Normal edition - not green.

Probllem solved.
Hmmmm, how many people will buy the Collector's edition? Mac and Casey, that's 2... maybe a dozen friends....

I still can't believe that all the errors slipped through in the first place, as a licensed property wouldn't Bioware get a copy of the manuscript to check over?
They've silly retcons, contradictions and contrived lore/plot elements in their own mainline games. If they let those slip through, I can imagine it isn't too hard to have similarly and in some cases far worse errors slip through in expanded universe material from other publications.

Why would anybody want to read that book anyway.
Perhaps someone, who has read the 3 previous books and e.g wants to know what happens to Gillian.

But everybody says it's terrible and not just because of the lore breaking stuffs.

Thats their opinion... I'll make my own if it ever comes out.

Tho, considering the kind of fan reception ME3 has gotten, and ME3 fans the biggest buyer of the potential new book, one has to wonder if Deception will EVER be fixed. Because it will likely not sell at all, so why waste the effort.
Yet it's also interesting how that was the attitude they had over the book, BEFORE ME3 even came out.

Three main problem here.
1. BW first time co-operated with freelancer, previous ME and DA books was written by their own writters. They simply underestimated situation or haven't "checking mechanism" prepared yet or both.
2. They had a lot of work with finishing ME3. I doubt that anyone from core writters had time for proofreading. I know it from my own experience that at the final stage of some big project you are practically working from dusk to dawn with minimal free time. Casey probably only saw prolog and rest was "checked" by some assistant who epicly failed.
3. They hired Dietz - guy with one of greatest fluctuation of qualty of his books. Few days before releasing he was still claiming that he played all games, read all books and made tons of notions. It is quite possible that he also convinced his contact person with BW about it.
And we also surely know that he was writting book from his own universe at the same time as Deception and now everyone know which book was more important to him.

BioWare need a continuity editor/s for their properties. If they already have one make them a fantasy writer and hire someone new
