Agreed. Real fans actually pay attention to those things.

I'm somewhat surprised that there hasn't been a fan-corrected version done yet. Or at least I haven't seen one if there is.

It's next to impossible to keep the basic story without breaking the timeline and universe to pieces. The entire structure would need to be changed.

Apart from the muddle of characters' ages and the time period, the locket Gillian gets from her father makes zero sense timeline-wise, and there are a bunch of other contrivances (Aria returning to Thessia with the "T'Loak family", Aria working with Cerberus in Invasion after Deception) that are just so difficult to integrate into the rest of the universe. Aria's entire plotline in Deception contradicts Invasion, and thus ME3/the Omega DLC/whatever else.

I mean, the story seems designed only to set the Mass Effect IP up for ME3 by dropping hints about Kai Leng, TIM's involvement with Reaper tech and confirmation of Anderson's resignation from the Council. That aside, almost nothing of importance happens in the book, except the murder of three of the novel series' major characters.

It has the barest of sequel hooks (a fleeing biotic antagonist who had all of six lines, and who Dietz kept alternately calling Zon and Von, sometimes on the same page), casually got rid of every single major character in the novels and doesn't even make sense on its own terms.

If fans wanted to rewrite it, I'm sure they could, but there seems to be no merit in preserving the story - inconsequential and broken as it is. I wouldn't even know where to begin to try to fix it.

Well said.

Deception need more then some little corections. Half of it have to be rewritten because some sublotes are completly contradictory to lore. And this would probably need even more time then was neccessary to write it.

Not mention there wouldnť be too many writters interested in such kind work and BW crew has a lot of their own work with DLC.

Dude this. Is awesome. /dietzstylewriting

I think I'd laugh for a very long time indeed if #dietzstylewriting ever trended on twitter.

I'd love for that to happen. At least it was trending on here thanks to LPPrince.
