While I apreciate (and accept) the apologies, I somehow don't think this book can be fixed in any way =/

Lore mistakes can be fixed, retcons can be mended, inconsistencies can be repaired, but none of that will change the fact that the entire plot of the book is still completely pointless.

furthermore, not only this book expands on NOTHING regarding the plot of mass effect, it also makes 2 of the other 3 books completely irrelevant as well.

Ascension and Retribution were building up the whole Gillian Sanders thingie and spend a great deal of time developing her character as well as that of Hendel, nick, and many others. Then along comes Deception and in a sudden move kills them all, for no damned reason.

one of them by a stab in the head with a toothbrush.

it woul be easier to simply discard it as non-canon and be done with it, but what do I know? :?

Agree with this. Then can do a lot to improve it by clearing up all the nonsense. But unless they rewrite the plot, I don't know how it will fit in the universe, or what the point of the story was.

about the best you can hope for with gillian, besides the horrid ending, is some explanation as to how the cerberus drugs from ascension were to blame for her condition.....when all else fails, lets blame TIM, right?

The last time she got a shot from Cerberus it was a new concoction which could explain her change in the book rather than not getting the shots in general.  It might be Cerberus actually found a catalyst for her change.  One theory that is.

agreed, which i'd personally be fine with....BUT.....if they are only going to correct the timeline and some other 'detail' items in the book, well that really won't change MY dissapointment with the end and how things were 'wrapped up'....

I´m not holding my breath over the changes. The book needs a complete rewrite IMHO, not a patch.

hahaha, my thoughts exaclty, correcting the errors is great, but that was stuff i could look past...the basics of the story and how things went down were exactly what disappointed me...

Pretty sure the book was made merely to tie up any loose ends in the novel series, rather than introduce something new to the plot.

As long as they can explain how it fits into the universe, and clear up all the glaring problems, then at least it can be integrated into the canon without destroying the wiki. The story will never be good, but at least it will be able to fit somewhere.

Pleeease, pleeeeeeease, I don't care how busy he is with the new SWTOR novel, we need Drew.

You know, the man who practically wrote ME1, and very much wrote the first three novels.

It's exactly that kind of talk that led to the fall of Rome.

Am I the only one who isn't bothered that Kai Leng killed Gillian with a sharpened tooth brush? XD At least Dietz described it as a "prison shank" and it's probably the type of thing that's actually been done in real life before - plus that sounds like the type of thing Leng would do. Personally I just want the thing to fit in with the ME universe without having to twist my brain so much >.<

I recall when they announced changes that would be made in the Halo novels that were never made. I don't expect much here, either.

The only thing new I recall with the Halo novels is the original 3. Their in a different format and few new changes.

This is different though they screwed up tremendously

It's not that different if you saw the lists of issues and compare them.

I wonder if Bioware just apologized to appease fans prior to the release of ME3 and has no intention of patching/rewriting ME: Deception. That this books sales will actually increase as people rush to buy the "original" so they can compare it with the "upcoming" fix which will fail to appear...

[/cynical]

Maybe I am just to cynical but I do find that line of thinking hilarous.. XD

that part i'm okay with, close it up if you will; but don't write 330 pages with 320 going over the minutia of how volus look and act and descibing biotics, then in a poof say 'so and so is dead, this guy took a knife to the heart and died'

I still think that the fall of Rome started with Obelix attending the Olympic games.

Also, Schumacher.

NOPE, perfectly okay with this....but (actually i just posted it before i saw this post) dietz spent so much time describing everythign in small detail (roly poly volus) then breezed through the 'big, final battle'

it was like a kid that had to write a 1000 word essay, got to the final paragraph to wrap it up, and realized he only needed 10 more words to wrap it up....

Being cynical is usually a smart route to take.  In this case though I don't think you are right.  This is damage control plain and simple.  Letting the fanbase deteriate is the last thing they want.

Remember back when the Olympic Games were about the olympic spirit?

Also, naked men running around and wrestling one another?
