Edit:post not removed yet, but inevitably will be...

Bioware points for DLC: can they be bought/activated through this website, or through origin only?

It has to be installed, I get that, but can ME3 be started without turning the origin client on (as is the case for some games already with origin)

The problem is that talking about programs like that is a bannable offense. Mods consider it to be a violation of the ToS and to be advocating Piracy somehow.

Discussing sandboxing is not a bannable offence, there was some misunderstanding when the Origin announcement was first made that has since been cleared up, the mods erred on the side of caution, it happens.
Dmex, an EA employee working on Origin, has openly discussed sandboxing and the Sandboxie community have confirmed that Origin runs perfectly fine sandboxed having already tested it out on BF3.

EDIT: Right so, apparently the mods would prefer people didn't discuss it, can't say I understand that one myself but there you go.

To everyone else:
I get everyone's annoyed, I'm annoyed too - I'd rather be spending my time playing ME2 again, not digging for contact information, trying to make sense of legal stuff and writing letters over something EA could so easily change; but getting into rucks with each other and allowing certain posters to push your buttons isn't the way to make your concerns heard.

To reiterate, this isn't something BioWare have any control over; if you want things to change you need to start having these discussions on the EA boards (and beyond), post in the thread if you have questions, post in the forums to register your issues with it, post in other gaming forums and blogs, write emails to people like the ECA, the ICO and OFT, you can even contact EA's CEO directly and (politely) let him know how you feel.

Finally: EA are not going to ban you from your games for discussing Origin unless they want to commit PR suicide, so don't worry about that side of things either.

To Chris:
I'm still a bit disappointed this isn't stickied - given the sheer volume of misinformation floating around and how important it is to many BSN members, it really should be at least level with Casey Hudson's Twitter Says... even putting up the FAQs as a locked thread and directing people here if they have questions would be something. Again I don't think this is down to any deliberate attempt to bury the discussion on your part, but it does look ever so slightly dodgy.

I think that you're a bit late on both those counts.  Most game news and review sites have been going nuclear since the news broke, and Bioware's repeated locking of threads and deleting of questions on this forum is not helping.  I write reviews and there's pressure from below to demonize Bioware and pressure from above to make them out to be misunderstood saints (with varying levels based on how much advertising EA bought).

Personally, i think the only thing they COULD do at this point to salvage the situation after the novel disaster would be to announce a day one patch to remove Origin.  I doubt it will happen, but it's probably the best option.
