It's extremely possible that the writers of ME wanted Shepard to have someone extremely close to them without actually having sex with them. In a lot of ways, Joker's more of a bro than a boyfriend. Like what Varric is to Hawke in Dragon Age 2.

That doesn't change the disappointment I had when Joker still turns down Shep.

To Whoever said the thing about Gavon and it being a human male rather than a Batarian like I thought it was. It could have been a human male eaither way I think he may be gay,  in fact when I saw it in LotSB originally I thought hmm ME3 same sex romances for males? and low and behold.

Kelly since she wasn't a "full" romance option like you say. Also Gianna Parasini. She's just so awesome to me. Oh well, at least you get a kiss in ME2.

Though I am very happy with Ash, I'd say my secondary option would be Gabby. That's Engineer Gabriella Daniels. She works on the propulsion systems... and I love the way she says propulsion.

Emily Wong wouldn't be a bad option either.

But other than those two there ain't no body I would even consider from the non-party member characters.
