Moves like Commando are action-comdeies.
You are never supposed to take the mseriously. They arne't even trying to be deep and relaistic.
The problem arises when they do.
With rengade interupts ME2 quickly became an action comedy IMO. But, yes you are right. It is the michael bay crap of today that irritates me because they act like it is super serious with long inspiring speaches and then lame stories around it. If they were more willing to slap on this is lighthearted fun label and not a we make great storoes idea I would be better with it. But, I just pretend the stuff I am getting served is just an action comedy of my youth.

There actually are quite a few objective criteria for what constitutes bad and good writing. It isn't sceince, but calling it pure opiinion is not true either.

Na, that time it was Eden Prime researchers who stumbled upon it.

Why have you stuck with the ME franchise so far then?Lotion Soronnar wrote...

It doesn't have to make sense or be a good story, just have some awesome lines and cool action scenes with some big explosions and it will be popular. And that isn't a knock, I love movies like this.
I hate moveis like that. Which is why every second sentance from the script irks me.

Bioware painted themselves into a corner with their goofy Lovecraftian spacegod machines, didn't they?
Yes. The goal to stop them from ariving was always better(made more sense etc) IMO given how ridiculous they made the repers.
But none of the ME games were believable, though I can certainly see how there could be a straw that broke the back moment in ME2 or maybe in the scirpt that I have not read there is a anvil dropped from orbit that broke the back.
