The statue in that kasumi DLC showed a statue of a Prothen. They looked to be rather sleek and slender. Mordin says  that the evidence shows that the collectors (who were Protheans once) were heavily modified into the bug/human hybrids that you fight for most of ME2. But from the protheans warning beacon it looks as if the collectors as we knew them already existed when the reapers were reaping 50,000 years ago.

So were the protheans sleek and slender as we saw in the Kasumi DLCs statue room, or did they always look like collectors?

See, I highly suspect this is another of Tetris's "prodding" threads. I mean, there are like 20 of this thread already out there not even 4 pages back and every one of T-block's recent threads has been a thinly veiled attempt to troll without actually trolling. He admitted he does it on purpose in one of his more recent threads.

I admitted nothing. I commented that asking too many questions about a game on the developers fan forums is frowned upon by some people. Like you apparently.

Honestly we don't Know what they looked like. If you consider human art and statues aren't very accurate always, think about the minotaur, humans don't have bull heads but if we went extinct and all that was left was statues then an alien might not know that. But also the Protheans could just be the name of the Empire, something I've stated before. Maybe there where other races brought into their Empire, kind of how the Federation in Star Trek is a bunch of races who all are equal and such; but other group just call them collectively the Federation. Or the Borg could be an even better example, maybe the Protheans took in other 'lesser' races and borrowed genetic material and such which is why they aren't able to be used to make a new reaper, and also explains why they had such an odd genetic code. So the "Protheans" are in fact a bunch of genetic constructs and not a real race at all.

I think that the Prothean Empire is similar to the Roman: Many races/cultures under the same flag. Is the only explanation that I can see after seeing the inconsistences on the creatures shown in the visions from ME1 & 2. The "True" Protheans (The original race that founded the Empire) look like the collectors.

But this is just a mere speculation and it's probably that I'm wrong in all this stuff.

Right because those pics from mounths ago can't be wrong or have changed, I've seen some of those two, and like three of them are diffrent to more than a few degrees... we KNOW nothing until the game comes out..... I remember a "leak" from ME2 were Jack had hair... so there you go

Edit: And a leak were Jack and Thane were supposed to be S/S romance options... and a bunch of audio files that you can find that show legion was suppsoed to be recuitable early in ME2...

The big picture is the final version of the Prothean, also, you can see his shoulder and part of his head in the  latest multiplayer trailer.

They were leaked like 2 weeks ago. And you really think they will completely change the look of the species this close to launch? LOL.

You can see a slip of the character in question in the newest trailer recently released.

hahaah no your probably very right about all of that. but I also think the confusion is in part do to the assumption that statues from the Prothean era are of actual Protheans and not some other race. Also it could be that places like Illos had statues made by and of a race that existed there prior to the Protheans.

I had a theory that the protheans were the slender squid heads (what they looked like to me) but they also created the collectors as menial labor from lesser races.

The Leak was "found' two weeks ago, but the stuff in it could have been much older. You don't work for Bioware, you have no idea when those things were leaked and how long they flowted around before being put out. I'm just trying to be objective here, and yes, I seem to recall a game company cutting hours of content and a whole city and story line a mounth before it was released. It was a game called Fable.

And my point in my first post on this topic was valid anyway, even if it was fully known what they looked like, my larger goal was to reason the difference between ME1 statues and ME2 Collectors.
