You think Shepard is the only one hunting down geth? They can do so on multiple fronts.

why the Terminus? by this point in the timeline, the Alliance has already disavowed the Reaper threat, that's why Miranda and TIM are upset at the beginning of the game because the Alliance is sending Shepard after Geth . . . so why send him/her into the Terminus, the Alliance and Council don't care about what goes on there, they have more to worry about than what's going on in the Terminus Systems

Because the Terminus is right next to Council/Alliance space, and a coordinated Geth attack would catch the Council races at a time of weakness. A preemptive strike against building forces would cull the attacks before they started.

I think this thread should be marked for spam now. He's either never played ME2, a troll, or just really, really ignorant.
You asked us to answer your question, and we did. Just because it isn't the answer you wanted doesn't mean it's wrong.

way to be a douchebag . . . hmmm . . . i wonder if i've been rude? ummmm . . . no . . .

it just doesn't make sense, why send him/her into the Terminus? The Alliance sent him/her there, this isn't like Shepard said "oh let's go to the Terminus System to hunt Geth", no the Alliance and Council sent him/her there . . . for what reason? to investigate missing ships? to hunt down Geth? there aren't more pressing concerns about security in Alliance space? They stretched thin as it is and your going to send a Alliance frigate and Spectre into the Terminus System . . . that's just poor resource management

see now that makes sense . . . there's no reason to be a douche about it though . . . i was simply looking for a feasible explantion as to why operate so deep in the Terminus System when you have more pressing concerns in Council Space

They didn't investigate geth.
It was a cover story for the public. Shepard went to investigate the Reaper threat.
It was written or said somewhere, not sure where, but it was certainly there.

I agree with op. Made no sense to me. The council made such a huge fuss and wouldn't let shepard go into the terminus systems after saren, all of a sudden it's ok to send shepard. I don't buy it.
