Outraged fans march on local game shops demanding preordered copies of ME3 CE.
Game UK spokeman Gary Pool tried to calm the agitated crowd with free inflatable omni-tool give aways and promises to disappointed fans to improve their customer service in the future.
20 minutes later, police were called in as the marchers had lashed the terrified spokesman to their picket banner and began to march around the block proclaiming, "No Preorder? Expect disorder!"
See picture left of 3 fans dressed as asari commandos spray painting a large N7 next to a heavily vandalized Game sign.

I found this thread (and signed up straight away) after doing a Google search for "Mass Effect 3 Game pre-order cancelled" or something like that.
I pre-ordered with Game.co.uk towards the end of January when the 2nd batch of N7 Collector's editions became available. Everything looked good, I received my confirmation emails and everything was peachy.
Now, I know that Game.co.uk have c**ked up pre-orders in the past, I think Forza Motorsport 4 LCE was an example, so I figured I would email them to confirm that everything was good. Below is the email chain:
-------------------------------------From me-------------------------------------
Dear Sir/Madam,
I pre-ordered a copy of Mass Effect 3 N7 Collector's Edition on XBox 360 on 26/01/2012.
I have received a pre-order confirmation email and also an order confirmation email.
Am I 100% guaranteed to receive this game when it is released?
The reason for my concern is I have heard that in the past some pre-orders for various collector's editions had to be cancelled (I think Forza Motorsport 4 is an example of such a case).
If someone could let me know that would be much appreciated.
Regards,
-------------------------------------Reply from Game.co.uk-------------------------------------
Hi,
Thank you for your email.
For preorders we request money from your bank at the beginning of the week that the game is due for release, the item/s are then posted to you in time for delivery on release day.
Provided that there is no problem with this payment then your preorder will not be cancelled.
I apologise for any inconvenience.

Liam,
I think you're misunderstanding my query.
In the past, people have placed pre-orders only to find that those orders were cancelled closed to the release date because Game (as a company) had over-allocated the items and could not fulfil all the pre-orders due to lack of stock.
Do I have a guarantee that this will not be the case with my pre-order for Mass Effect 3N7 Collector's Edition on XBox 360 (order number: xxxxxxxxx)?
Does this clarify my question?
Regards,

So, all good right? Confirmation from Game.co.uk that the pre-order was ok and it was showing in my account as "unshipped".
Until yesterday that is. Logged into my Game account had a check and now it's showing as cancelled.
What.
The.
****.
No emails, no communications, nothing. Just cancelled a cancelled order (which cannot be "Reviewed") showing in the "Track Orders" section of my account on Game.co.uk
Panic stations. Spoke to a mate about it then did a Google search (which led me here). So it seems Game.co.uk have over allocated and are now cancelling pre-orders, on what can only be a first-come-first-serve basis right???
Absolute nightmare.
I am going to call them on Monday and probably give them both-barrels.
I have now ordered from Gamestop.ie but I guess there's no guarantee that they will be able to fulfill their orders either?!?
EDIT:
I just wanted to add (in case anyone from Game is reading this), because of this situation it is highly unlikely that I will ever place a pre-order with them again. If Gamestop.ie come through for me I will likely switch to them.
I'm voting with my wallet.

I missed out on the first round of pre-orders from Game.co.uk so I placed an order with Gamestop.ie.
However, when a 2nd batch was announced by Game.co.uk I ordered with them and cancelled my original Gamestop.ie order (which in hindsight was rather stupid).
Only to now have my Game.co.uk cancelled for me (how kind of Game) without any notification/communication. So I've had to re-order with Gamestop.ie now!!!
Like I said, if Gamestop.ie come through on this one and continue to have games/LCEs that I want at competitive prices in future then I will shop with them from this day forth.
I can't be dealing with the hassle of having pre-orders cancelled after they've been accepted etc. It's not the end of the world and it is only a game but it's just a hassle I could do without.
I would also add that this kind of thing will see customers looking to more reliable alternatives and will not help Game Group resolve their liquidity issues. If Game go under due to uncompetitive pricing (which is a different issue to that being discussed here) and dissatisfied customers/poor customer service then I won't shed a tear for them.

Until yesterday I would have agreed whole heartedly. But after that screw up, my view has been changed. THe most annoying part is now I have to find a Collector's Edition and import it. Due to the UK being sold out. However I do not mind having to import a game from Ireland as there are no differences. I did some calculations and found out I will save around a £1. So all in all, happy days

Did you order with your point because when ever I pre-order with point they always find some way of messing up the order? I'm pretty sure I ordered in time there shouldn't of been a problem with stock I say I ordered it around August but they didn't email me about my order and all I remember is ordering it before Batman Arkham City and though I wasn't sent the comformation email it was ordered becuase it was in my orders till it disapeared. If this has happened to a lot of orders I wonder what actually happened to the stock maybe it was sold to a different retailer.

Why has my order the Mass Effect 3 special edition been cancelled? I placed my order whilst it was listed on the site as in stock and I expect a company, which is usually very reliable, to be able to provide me with a product I order. At the very least, a VALID explanation for the cancelleation would be appreciated.
Regards,
James

Thank you for your email.
I have looked into your order and unfortunately it appears that your bank has declined to authorise payment for your order. This can be for a number of reasons, which we are unable to view due to data protection. Your order has subsequently been cancelled. I recommend that you contact your bank before replacing your order.
I am sorry that I could not assist you further on this occasion.

I cannot "replace" my order. That's the nature of my complaint. If I could simply order another copy of the N7 edition of Mass Effect 3, I would. But it has been removed from your system.
Help?

James
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your email.
Unfortunately this has been removed from our site as we are out of stock of this product.
I apologise for any disappointment.

How can you be out of stock when you cancelled my order after is was removed from your site? That would suggest that there is at least my copy sitting around unclaimed on your system.

James
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your email.
Your bank rejected the order in the first instance so the product would have been allocated to another customer unfortunately.
If you have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact us.

I'm sorry, but how is that even possible? The product was removed from your website and then, after that, my order was cancelled. I don't understand how it can have been allocated to another customer after it has been removed from the website.
This really sounds like GAME trying to worm their way out of accepting responsibility for taking more orders than you can accomodate, because I know for a fact that several other Mass Effect fans have had their orders cancelled without warning.
Simply not good enough.

James

Just waiting on a reply from that last one now. This is really not at all good enough considering they are the country's biggest gaming retailer and they get the majority of exclusives.

I did use some Game points, about a fivers worth on this order. I then updated some details but all was ok after that.
It's at some time after that the order was cancelled.

All you can do is go up the chain. At best, phone them. That way they won't have time to look for some pre-set answers to copy and paste and actually have to think for themselves. If that doesn't solve the problem, demand to speak to the supervisor (DO NOT LET YOURSELF PUT ON HOLD!!!). Discuss the problem with him (politely of course, with everyone). If that doesn't work, demand to speak with the department manager. Then the next higher up and so forth. Write a politely, but urgent worded EMail to GAME's CEO (the adress is somewhere in the thread already), because the higher ups have a tendency to fulfill customer wishes with regards to good publicity or at least know where to point you to get results rather than empty words.
I would definitely suggest phoning them - when I was trying to get some answers regarding pre-order gear, the email responses were absolutely hopeless, they simply weren't reading my emails properly. The guy who I talked to on the phone was very helpful.
That said, I'm not sure how much good any of this will do. If they've ran out of CEs then there's not that much anyone can do about it.

Has anyone had their preorder cancelled on a non-360 platform?
I highly doubt it because it's still available to pre-order on PS3 and PC.
I imagine XBox 360 is the most popular platform as it was first released on that...
