I just canceled my pre-order with GAME - Screw them i say!

Now i have pre-order with a local vendor. It's about £10 more expensive but at least i'm sure to get a copy on release day!

They have really handled this thing so poorly... Any reason why GAME is the only UK retailer that sold the Collector's Edition? Baffeling.

How exactly are they supposed to help? Distributor screwups aren't their problem.

Yes they are.  The end maker whether it is a video game a car or a tshirt needs to know that their product gets painted with a brush that is being held by all steps in the chain including distribution.  If problems like this crop up often they need to pressure their parent company to do something to correct distribution errors.  The old, it is out of our hands doesn't wash long term with customers and if you do nothing you can start kissing pre orders goodbye and eventually sales.

Dunno, bungs and backhanders or something? There really aren't too many specialist retailers in the UK though..

happy for the OP. Good to hear the Company's leader personally ordered your pre-order reinstated.

Got mine from GAMEMANIA, 90€, part of me is happy with the purchase, part of me feels ripped off. I hope the DLC is worth it, as i don't care for the comic/audio/artbook.

thats $120! considering ME2 CE had the same content and only cost 55€ ($70).

Considering the DLC is also available to buy for 560-800 Microsoft Points on release day, the CE is practically worthless if you don't care about the other stuff...

Which DLC is going to be available?

1. Mission & Character
2. Weapons & armour
3. All of it

Mission and Character. Doubtful for the Weapons and Armor to make it to Marketplace/PSN. Even less likely for the Robo-dog and hoodie.

I thought it may interest you all to know that I just received an email from Mandy Jarvis in response to my questions yesterday.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
It was the fault of our fraud protection measures. Due to the limited stock of the item in question, we are obviously a target for fraudulent orders and had to tighten our security settings for orders, and inevitably some genuine customers have been caught up in the process.
In regards to your order in particular, I, unfortunately, cannot re-instate it or place a manual order for you, as every copy of the item in question has been allocated on our system.
Thank you for taking the time to contact Ian Shepard & Myself,
We hope your queries have been resolved to your satisfaction.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
So, that's that. No CE for me. Also, it still sounds like a pretty goddamn convenient excuse to me, but there's obviously nothing I can do about it...

Urgh that sucks. I still find it a bit dubious. How were genuine customers caught up and how so many? I don't even understand fraud protection can work on a pre-ordered product .

EDIT: Also while they say it was their fault, they don't even say sorry for the inconvience or anything. What stuck ups.

That's such a lame excuse, I've orderd so many times with them before. If they have cancelled technically one to two should be free to reinstate. Luckily my friend may have a spare but Game is no longer on my go to shop anymore. They dont even seem sorry.

Oh well, suck it up.

I know what you're saying, but this isn't really a case of 'suck it up'. I'm over the fact I might not be able to get my hands on a CE, now I'm just more annoyed that the company seems to, not only be so uncaring about their position, but then proceed to kill the damn conversation by saying that they hope my "queries were solved". I'm sorry, but that is just rude and shows that neither Mandy Jarvis, nor Ian Shepard, are interested in pursuing this any further than providing a lame excuse. Hell, as MortalEngines said, she didn't even apologise for the run-around I've been given by the company for the last week.

The only thing I find to be bothersome is the time between ordering and the no-go response. In my case it was over a month, here it's 9 months. In my case, there was no CE to be gotten anywhere anymore (especially since Europe is always shafted in these CE/community thingies). You can write a complaint letter, but formally they're in their right and very likely the most you can get out of it is a voucher for a free icecream.

Complaining on these forums however, serves no purpose at all - as we simply can not give you a solution to your problem. These companies usually do not care about one customer. That's the way it works. Suck it up or sue.

Whilst I know that the forums can't offer me a solution, it does provide a place for me to vent about my annoyance with GAME over this whole fiasco.

Gamestation also sells the CE and they still have some PS3/PC copies left: you could try there.

Unfortunately, my PC isn't good enough to run Mass Effect and I don't own a PS3, otherwise I would try Gamestation. Thanks all the same Cjail

@JaHawk You could always resort to what I did, and buy from Gamestop,ie. It is roughly £68 including P&P. It may arrive late but better late than never.

They take the money straight away don't they? I only have 40 quid in my account until I get paid next week so that isn't an option just now. Thanks for the idea though - will look into it.

I'd ask for an explanation on the whole fraud thing, it sounds like a flimsy catch all excuse. What possible fraud can there be in this case? If they think its from a hacked account then why didn't they just look at your order history or contact you? Is your address still the same as previous orders? If you gather a list of people who have been affected by these unwarranted cancellations you can threaten to go to the papers and facebook about it unless you get satisfactory answers.

I utterly hate being forced back into dealing with Game, I used to pre-order instore with Gamestop and never once had an issue but something tells me I'm not even going to get this in time for release. I picked the free delivery option by accident and can't seem to change that. I ordered a joypad two weeks ago using free delivery, it says 2 day delivery before you order it but once its been posted that changes to 3-5 days. It took all 5 days too.
