Okay, so I have created a tiny little indoor room, placed two lights, one for light, one for shadow, and now I want to create the lightmap.

The program reported a lightmap-atlas error and did not render the lightmap.
So I read a bit and did the following two suggested things:
1. I removed the python26 that I actually needed for another programm and installed the python 2.5.4, the only one that could be installed on my PC (the others did not want to) which was the x86 file. I did in fact not find a python installer that was specified to be only 32 bit on the official homepage.
I restarted the computer.
2. Tried it and failed.
3. I put a downloaded python25.dll file into the lightmapper folder of "dragon age origins/tools" and tried it with both, then only the python25.dll. Neither worked. I tried it multiple times, since I read somewhere that it won't work the first try. But for me I didn't on the second either.

So my question is:
Does anyone have any idea on what the heck is going on?
Why does that little thing resist me in spite of all my effort?

you should uninstall all versions of python, then install this one.

http://downloads.act...4-win32-x86.msi

btw ... the atlas errors should be ignored. they are not going to make your render fail.

I had the same problem becuase I managed to install the wrong python version in the start.
I'm afraid I am not very helpful stating that it worked for me after uninstalling 2.6.4.8 and installing 2.5.4.4 from the download found at this website:
https://www.activest...thon/downloads/
Perhaps you have installed another version? Or perhaps something went awry with the uninstallation?

It seems I have absouletly no luck.

I deinstalled the python I downloaded (the installer was a lot smaller, 10mb instead of 25), restarted the pc, installed the Python version you linked me to, and restarted the pc - without any success. It still produces the lightmap-atlas error repeatedly.

Without the python25.dll in the lightmapper folder, it now claims to successfully create the lightmap (despite all the errors it reports in the process), however the result is far from very light-mapy. Shadows of objects are not produced on the ground, so the lightmap, in fact, did not work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Everyone gets atlas errors, it's a known issue. Mods can still be exported even with errors.

follow the steps in this thread:http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/74/index/275454

Kuraiken: Did you install Python to the default intall path C:\\python25 ? I think this path is hardcoded in the lightmapper...

@lowrez01

In the tutorial video I watched, the person didn't. And his shadows were visible and working. Mine, sadly, are not.

@Kusako

Yes, I haven't changed the installation directory, and it is in C:\\python25.

Can you guys please check your registry (->start->run->regedit) and look into HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Bioware\\Dragon Age and tell me whether there is a registry entry for the lightmapper with a path for you. Especially within Dragon Age\\Toolset and \\Enviroment.

Because I have no entry for the lightmapper, and if you guys do, then I'd like to know in which folder so that I can add that entry to the registry and see whether it changes anything. Thanks.

I do have these two keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Toolset\\Common\\LevelEditor\\LightMapperCommand = $(TOOLSET)\\Lightmapper\\EclipseRay.exe LightMapper.py --terse -cpus=2

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Toolset\\Common\\LevelEditor\\LightMapperWorkingDir = $(TOOLSET)\\lightmapper\\

Hm, thank you.

While I did lack both entries in the registry, adding them sadly changed nothing.

Second question: Where did you guys get the toolset you use from, and are there *any* additional materials, utilities, etc. that should be downloaded?

EDIT: Well, I have moved my shadow light and changed its color to a darker one, saved it again and NOW it works. Perhaps after all the things I did, I also needed to ensure that the room is "new" and thus the new lightmap things apply. So anyone who still has that problem might want to try changing the color and moving the light as well as refreshing and saving the room.
Thanks for all the good suggestions.
