I am looking to pick up ME2 again to get a perfect save game ready for ME3 and had a question... I romanced Liara in ME1 and regret that choice now and wish to change it to Ashley. I made a new ME2 import game (from my perfect ME1 save with Liara) and saved at the first point... from here I edited it in Gibbs to change the romance to Ashley and saved it.  From here I started a new game + and indeed Ashley did greet me in the intro.  Here is my question....

1) Will starting a new game + in this manner mess up things for me later down the road? My worry is since I never picked up a bonus weapon on the collector ship (or even left the med bay on the first station) I won't be able to in the new game+.

2) Are there any other downsides to going NG+ off the bat with a level 5 Shepard?

Thanks for any insight!

I didn't know you could import an ME2 character that hadn't beaten the game. That seems a bit odd. So I can't help you with number 2. I don't see how that is much different than importing a level 60 ME1 character...

At any rate I don't think it will mess you up as far as the Collector ship weapon choice. I think the logic it uses compares your current loadout with the loadout of the base class. If you had already picked one you do not have the same as the base class and it skips the scene. Alternatively, with my hacked character AR Vanguard that only had assault rifles and pistols it gave me the choice of picking the Revenant, shotgun training, or sniper rifle training.  BUt I do not know this for sure, I have never imported an ME2 character that didn't pass DCC already.

It is unclear if saves that have used gibbed will not import properly into ME3, but I imagine that risk is remote.

Use this moddified Gibbs and you don't have to restart the game for changes to take effect.  You would only lose out on having Ashley greet you in the intro, but all else would play just like you want in the game you are currently playing.
