She really has been Mirandified. There is simply no other explanation for these ruthlessly oversexualized pictures. lol.

Depressing, lol.

Really? Can you link me to the stats that show this? I'm not doubting you, I'm just surprised.

oh dear god. She's running UP a ramp. Every Ass on human being moves when they walk, when the ass moves, the clothes around it move. Did you notice the picture goes 50X zoom to show you that OP? did you notice that? No, you spent however long it took you to see that and post it here to **** about something that's on screen for 1-2 seconds and is moving away. The Camera does not follow Ashley's ass, it zooms in on shepard who is about to watch a shuttle with that little boy on it get blown up. The game is about to go gold so you'd think the ****ing about Ashley's outfit would be over but no, let's all complain a little more why don't we?

It's not about that.  It's just Bioware's latest use of the word "sexy".  It's not like Ashley wasn't appealing back in ME1, she's very pretty and can kick your ass, but I guess it's not enough for Bioware, lol.

It's not like Kaidan wasn't appealing eihter but they buffed him up to show he's bene in battle. He was 32 in ME1 OF COURSE HE'S BEEN IN BATTLE! Kaidan didn't need buffing up, he doens't use his muscles he uses his biotics, tech, and guns. Kaidan's handsome and can kick your ass, but apaprently eh thought he wasn't muscley enough so he hit the gym for 14 hours every day for a month.Posted Image

Ugh....this thread is like 6 months too late. This has been discussed ad nauseum and as a result Bioware gave Ashley real armor, fixed her skin tone, and tweaked her casual wear.

Well fortunatley this is from an older build, since then Ashley has gotten an actual set of armor and those awful white pants have been painted blue. It's not much but it's a huge improvement over what came before this.
That said I still don't like the fact that Bioware did this and their obnoxious reasoning of 'Ashley needs sex appeal' will always make me mad. But hey, they are at least trying to rectify some of their past problems and so far the armor and the blue pants and the helmet are all good signs.
I won't get my hopes up but maybe finally someone on the art team has started to realize that not all gamers are just going to be lolled into a hypnotic trance by sexualized design and that large numbers of them will actually, angrily, speak out against it.

(Oh and before anyone says anything, I have not a problem with sexy women in games and stories. I never haven't found Ashley sexy and one of the highest items on my Shepard's list of things to do in Mass Effect 3 is to take her in the French fashion the first chance he gets. No, Ashley being 'sexy' doesn't bother me. Ashley being 'sexualized' does, and a character being redesigned to wear an outfit that is both unrealistic for battle and unrealistic for the established character with the sole justification of 'give her sex appeal' is a clear example of the latter.

I'm just so sick of the knee jerk reaction people give whenever people bring up issue of sexualized women in games which is always unfailingly:
"OH SO WHAT? U JUST WANT FAT UGLY BIT*HES WITH SKIN CONDITIONS AND GREY HAIR?!??!?!"
Because obviously 'wearing two tissues worth of material and having breasts that could have their own gravity' and 'hideous troll like creature with mounds of titanous flab' are clearly the ONLY two ways female characters can ever be designed.)

But yes anyway, while that ass shot thing filled me with murderous cannibalistic Firefly Reaver-esque rage, I'm willing to give Bioware a chance at least. Because like I said, they are improving and like a dog or child should be rewarded for good behavior and scorned for bad behavior. That said if I and the fanbase are to be Bioware's parents, while they are no longer having time out time they certainly aren't going to have any dessert tonight that's for damn sure.
I'm ready to give Bioware a chance because they are fixing things up, still some distance away from forgiving them completely.

EDIT: Also having read the scripts Ashley's character itself remains pretty much intact. The same wise cracking toughened military chick from before, so while the design is still jarring I can rest a bit knowing that she's still the same Ash underneath.

Also I like Ashley's hair, it looks nice. In battle I'll just give her a helmet.

Ash was the most romanced character in ME1, so "the mass" at least found her more appealing than Liara. And it could be me (since I played a female Shep), but her "civilian, relaxed" side was displayed pretty satisfactorily. She IS a no-nonsense soldier, after all (and they are on an extended mission), so it was appropriate. Not exactly expecting her to come up to the captain's quarters for a toenail painting.

Well considering the extremely small choice of romance in ME1, I don't consider that surprising.  She's human and for some she was attractive enough.  I was satisfied but not overtly.

I didn't find her letting her guard down or showing a civilian or relaxed side, not to mention the setting of ME1 and ME3 would allow for a change of clothing and scenery.  And yes it was appropriate for then but I'm glad for the change in her look, its refreshing to see, regardless of their reason.

What is going on here? lol

An injustice! Fan girls have to work so hard and use fly cam during cutscenes when Thane is falling over just to see his butt.

How much you want to bet Ashley's butt will have as much screen time as Miranda's?

Meanwhile, Thane's butt get's no screen time. This is a crime.

Ashley did too, but now she's too pretty. She's as bad as some of those horrible femsheps that are slathered in makeup.

and yet she could still kick your ass and make you cry for your mother. Probably wouldn't break a nail either since she's a Spectre.

This.

White pants are thankfully dead. As they should be.

And while Ash could probably beat the crap out of me in RL she can't beat the crap out of my Shep. And that's all that matters. B)

Why does every LI have to fall under what the majority considers attractive? Many people liked Ashley the way she was.

Because people forget this is a business and that BioWare wants to appeal to a mass of people (Teenagers) instead of a few.

But isn't that what Liara, Miranda, Kelly, Snooki Chobot etc are for? The "i want hot gurlz" audience have all their bases covered and then some, there's no reason to annoy the fans who prefer LI's like Jack + Ashley.

Jacob was head of security over a bunch of researchers on a cerbeus facility. He wears a simple cerberus uniform. He looks as he should, and although he should have grabbed some actual armor somwhere along the line it at least has some logic behind it.

Ashley's look doesnt follow the design logic established by her characterization. Its a blatant and uneeded change. She armor if it wasn't for all the outcry about her appearance.

if it's so simple why's he the only one that wears it? Joker doesn't wear Jacob's uniform. Kenneth doesn't wear it. Hadley doens't wear it. That is a Jacob only outfit that fits him skin tight to show off his magnificently chiseled body so don't had me that BS Nash.Posted Image

If the picture wasn't outdated, I would say this:

What exactly is wrong with it? I am no fan of the "casual" outfit that Ash used to wear in these outdated pictures, but that "buttshot" is hardly anything offensive, at all. To prove my point...

If you can say with a straight face that the old picture of Ash is anything offensive while looking at these Miranda butt shots, well, theres something wrong with you to be honest. I'm a Miranda and Ash fan, and the Miranda butt shots were unnacceptable to me. It was almost deliberate.

So, /thread.

The standard Cerberus outfit is pretty skintight.

Miranda's outfit would be a lot better without the heels and the collar around her neck. I like the colors and I like that strap that hangs over her hip. Just a little more work and it'd be sexy and respectable.
