So punching a reporter invalidates saving Elysium? Or the Citadel? Or stopping the Collectors?

And where did I say that?

You said Shepard was no hero.

No I didn't.

I said a Shep that punches the reporter chick is no hero.

Which is exactly his point.

That basically means that punching one ****y reporter who is trying to make Shepard look like an uncaring **** to the whole galaxy makes him "not a hero". Thus invalidating all his acts of heroics.

That's... pretty stupid, actually.

As someone already stated, punching is a last resort of the incompetent, especially with someone ill prepared to defend themselves, if you don't have the intelligence and wit to win with words, use your fist.

I bullrushed her twice and I'm desiring one last chance to give her the clocking she deserves. Just once! That's all I want!

Why a fist? why not use a shotgun and shot them in their kneecaps.

Only reason it is ever ok to punch her is
because it is a game. And even that's a pretty weak reason tbh. I only
did it once accidently (didn't think it could happen). Anyway, any
Shep's punching her at any point are clearly no hero at all

Why not kill her, and her whole family, including women and children? Obviously they deserve it.

I quite like playing super-Paragon Shep who talks his/her way around Al-Jilani.

"Great, bullrushed on my own show!"

Hehe.

Punching her is something that is good for a little smile, but I would never do it canonically (means I would punch her for the lulz, then reload and not do it, if at all). It serves no purpose, shows Shepard has serious anger management problems, and is just so... immature. I mean, who punches someone just for being annoying (and she is)?
Also, I think she is only doing her job. Journalists are not there to ask pleasant questions, they are there to ask whatever question deserves attention. They often ask in a provocative manner, and when Shepard can easily, and without having to hide something, answer any of her questions, why should he not? Especially if he is oh so bad-ass and confident in himself.
Punching her makes Shep look bad.
Owning her with words makes her look bad.

That's what I said, but not what you said. I didn't say anything about random ****y reporters who try to make Shepard look bad. I am talking about this special situation. Mind you some reporters may deserve a punch to the face. But in this case? Shepard agreed to have an interview. He/she could just have said no and walked away. If someone deserves to be knocked out then those who think it was an acceptable behaviour. The only reason it is 'ok' is because it is only a game and nobody cares what you do in your game.

The world is saved many times each day by different people, they are not all heroes. Some just do their job, others do it because for survival reasons. A villain can save the world just like a hero can. The difference is not what they do, but how they do it. And why they do it.

no. Al Jalani is a snivelling ***** but she has never been violent to Shepard. I find the sting of losing her credibility on galactic television is much more unbearable than sucker punching her.

Which has nothing to do with not being a hero.

Do you think that heroic individuals don't have flaws? Serious, ugly, and counterproductive flaws?

Seriously, heroes aren't saints. Never have been.

Which would mean that the same Shep who may also be the Hero of the Skyllium Blitz, the Hero of the Citadel, have stopped the Collectors, and anything and everything else...

have all those actions invalidated if they punch the reporter.

Which is very, very stupid thing to claim.

Saints have no flaws then? It is only a matter of definition. At best you can say you don't agree with my definition of a hero. But someone who punches an unarmed women for no good reason is no and cannot be a hero for me. Even if he/she saves the world.

I never even hinted at such, humans have flaws, but that's a whole other thing about overcoming those flaws.
