Hitting a man for no reason is bad, hitting a woman for no reason is worse. Actually hitting a woman is always bad unless maybe in self defense if you have no choice. That's of course if we assume it happens in a hostile manner. If you slap your girl on the butt it's something different.Dean_the_Young wrote...

I don't really feel like any of the violence man/man, woman/woman, woman/man, man/woman is acceptable. A woman punching a man or a woman punching a woman is just as bad as a man punching a woman when it comes down to it, yes. But it's always going to be much worse when in a situation where someone is physically bigger and stronger than the victim. It's always going to seem worse for a man to hit a woman. That's just the way it is. It's been that way for centuries. I don't think it's progressive to say we should get passed that and consequently if it's okay to hit anyone then it must be okay to hit women.
No one is claiming it's progressive to defend hitting a woman without cause. The progressive claim is that hitting a woman without cause is not bad because it's a woman.Er, no. You don't understand what I'm saying at all if you think I'm justifying hitting her.And all of you using the "sexism" and "gender equality" argument to justify hitting her - you keep using those words. I do not think you know what those words mean....
I'm saying that hitting her doesn't change whether Shepard is a hero or not. I have not once in this thread advocated or defended hitting her.
For all those who HAVEN'T clocked al-Jilani yet...

I don't remember doing it in ME2, but I did do it in ME1 and I remember enjoying it as well.

I'm pretty sure people already realize that.
Then maybe just maybe acting as though what someone finds amusing in a game isn't a reflection of how they treat women in RL might be in order. You know like how you interpret the last comment.

David al Talaqini died warning Shepard of the geth on Feros. Granted, his death was almost as hilarious as Jenkins'.

Well I said 'your girl' if you didn't notice. There is alot of sexual assaulting in a relationship and that's mostly ok. I don't care if you call it sexism. We could discuss sexism in broad but not going to do it here and now. So in my book it is not sexism. It is what I expect a man to understand and accept without drawing the sexism card.Dean_the_Young wrote...

Me? I am well aware of the differences between reality and fiction so no I don't see anything wrong with it on a small level.
IF this was RL I'd condemn Shep shooting Conrad in the foot as much as him punching Al-Jilani. As it's a video game, I simply laugh at both. No one's actually being hurt. They're pixels.

You already are, so it's a bit late to try and claim the end of the argument even as you insist on the last word.We could discuss sexism in broad but not going to do it here and now.
Your book is irrelevant to a cultural standard. So in my book it is not sexism.
Expecting other people to go off of your personal book when your book isn't the cultural standard is egocentric and pretentious. It is what I expect a man to understand and accept without drawing the sexism card.

I liked the other reporter better. Some people too need to stop taking things seriously and have fun.

You are sexist.
I for one believe women and men are equal. It is unacceptable to hit a man and it is unacceptable to hit a woman unprovoked.
It is not worse to hit a woman than it is a man.
Chilavry is dead and has been for a long time. Women are not entitled to any preferential treatment of any kind and neither are men.
