A valid tool to channel your imagination. Far superior to NWN1 in what you can recreate with it.

Hoorah for human ingenuity.

Why do you say that?

It works perfectly fine. You just need to whip yourself harder.

But seriously, in my experience the NWN games are great for running tailor made D&D campaigns online as long as everyone keeps their inherent limitations in mind. It will obviously never be as flexible as tabletop with a good DM.

I've used it many times to run DM events and one DM campaign. There was nothing painful about it except players not showing up and internet issues. The occasional TPK was okay. :)

On a serious note, are you here just to "troll" (don't really like that word) the forums? I notice you've posted in other topics but not really made any attempt to explain your outburst at the game.

Your assertion is clearly invalid - the evidence is all around you in the vault.

Not trolling :) This topic originally said something else, and since there's no delete button.. well.. i edited.

And it is true. Had no issues running various NWN campaigns in comparison to NWN2. While NWN2 is a whole mountain to climb every dang step in the way.

For example right now, I just staged everything, read the PDFs... but the Autodownloader isn't even beginning to work. "The Server is improperly configured for autodownloader"... *SEPPUKU*. Either I'm a flaming moron, or I simply just can't catch any breaks.

More frustration at Obsidian not making something player-friendly than anything else.

Try acually asking a question or posting the actual problem...you might actually get help.  NWN2 works just fine for me and it's been proven many times that I'm a moron.

To be fair, NWN1 doesn't even have an autodownloader, does it? Besides, having issues with something doesn't mean that the whole thing is "an exercise in self-flagellation". Not all of us run PWs or MPs, and besides, many of us have done so successfully.

Hey OM21 - the ADL just takes a little fumbling to get it to work. I got mine to work fine and my wife tells me every day that I'm a moron, so as I still stick around, it must be true.

Stick with it. The rewards are worth the few stumbles now.

So, at first you called it "an exercise in self-flagelation", now this... what's the purpose of this thread again?

Does anyone remember the "Fine Wine" and "Sour Grapes" threads Selene put up way back in 2006/07

This brings back memories.

Harumph!

Oh, man, I am *SO* going to get you those vitamin B12 supplements.  That was me, man!  I put those up.  I thought those were one of my more inspired moments.  And I get no thanks, no credit, just give it to the pretty girl moderator.  Thank god sexism isn't dead along with everything else in NWN2 (we are the Undead Fans.)

No fair! You changed the topic subject and opening post! :P

...I don't get the fine wine simile here. Maybe I would if I kept drinking until I was drunk. So I'll consider doing that... for science!

Yeah, I noticed that, too. Silly absurdist historical reductionism in action. You gotta love it.

Bah! Pretty is as pretty does. Seriously, that was you who made those threads? Well, credit where it is due.

I probably didn't remember because back then you had the huge MODERATOR block only, instead of the new cool blue owl.

Yah, that's one thing the new site does better. Back on the "Legacy" forums, even though I had an avatar, once I became a moderator, my avatar was this big black block with blue letters:

MODERATOR

Ooh, pretty.

And yes, that was me. I can also tell you that Selene and I, along with two other moderators for the NWN2 forums back then literally pitched in on the moderator forums to allow this Fine Wine and Sour Grapes threads to even occur. The PtB (Powers that Be) were initially opposed to it, but through logic, reason, examples and an indefatigable sense of verbal browbeating, we prevailed.

We all participated in the discussion, though I have to admit, the whole name of the threads and their implementation was wholly mine. I suppose the difference is that I was still a new and shiny moderator at the time and then, as now, I consider myself a Community Member Gamer first and foremost, then a Moderator and then a company mouthpiece (of which I recieve ZERO pay and am not now, nor have I ever been EMPLOYED in the gaming industry in any way, shape, or form -- though would love an offer someday -- hint hint hint.)

I have always thought of this Community as OURS. And every member of the Community is a valued member as long as they comport themselves according to our rather easy going set of rules.

Ahh, Dorateen, you make me recall memories of some great and not so great times on these and the Legacy Forums. Some of them are sweet and heady, like Fine Wine. Others, more vinegary and bitter, like Sour Grapes.

See? See what I did there?
