Doubtful.
Society doesn't trust me for some reason.
And the idea that procreation is the point of life and the only way to prove one's worth, is very off-putting.

I already have kids. :P

It's been pretty amazing over the years, watching this person:

Turn into this one:

Also, the progression from this into this.
YMMV, but I just think my kids are fun. :wizard: They also give me an excuse to buy more toys and games. Win! :o

I second this question, I'm equally curious.

What happens to a child if he or she lives in a world where he or she is unloved and unwanted?

They shouldn't be born in the first place. That's kind of the point of my posts, that I don't want children, and it seems to be consistent with most people who say they're a burden in this thread thus far. If people were more honest about this, perhaps less unwanted children would be born into the world.

Personally If I'm unlucky to have a kid and it goes to term, well I can't really get rid of it, so I'd be forced to do the responsible thing. Perhaps circumstances might help to mold my opinion, but if it's my call, I wouldn't have them to begin with.

"medium rare" joke on the second page.

no kids for me. i couldn't look myself in the mirror if i brought a kid into a world where Cookie Monster only eats cookies "some of the time".

As we have universal responsibility we are allowed only 1 children (as I like).
Blame the uncultured people of 20th century and Medicine for 7 billionth population. With more population the stability of the world becomes more thin and shaking, then medium disasters and drought will massacre many countries.

I think overpopulation fears are overblown. The population will thin itself out as birth rates in industrialized countries show. Plus you just can't think of humanity in simple mathematical terms. What if someone like Norman Borlaug hadn't been born? Or Jonas Salk?

OTOH it's fine to not want kids yourself, I don't think the pressure should go the other way, either. The only thing I'd say is that if you want one, there are good physical reasons not to wait too long. Women trying to wait until their 30s might end up playing catch-up.

And now you know why there are so many dysfunctional youths which grow up to be dysfunctional adults.

Do kittens count?

Sadly, it doesn't seem to for majority of people. But to me they do. I saved this abandoned kitten a few years back....neglected and starving and with two scars on it's belly. I took it home, gave it a good life for 3 years but then sadly, it died. I don't really know why...hit by a car maybe. It left a huge gaping hole in my heart.

If I have a big enough home some day I'll adopt homeless kittens again. And if my fiance has a problem with it, he'll sleep outside while the kittens sleep comfortably on my bed :)

I do have "the natural tendency to take care of things" but for some reason I channel it more towards animals than humans...I just don't trust humans and don't enjoy their company nearly as much. Kids are awesome and all but eventually they'll grow up...my mum would probably be very lonely and sad if my two brothers were the only children she has. Luckily me and her have an awesome relationship. I don't know how one could live without the other.

There are some people in the world that either shouldn't have kids or just don't want to have them. If they acknowledge that and don't have them then hopefully a child does not end up being put in that situation.

Maybe someday, but I'd rather enjoy my freedom for as long as I can.

Same here, generally I dislike really young kids, babies and toddlers. They're a lot of work, very noisy, messy and frankly I couldn't deal with that much stress. Maybe when I'm a bit older and have the right sort of partner but at the moment eeew, no.

I can't personally see how I could consider my life "succesful/complete" when I die, if I had lived my life as a regular worker/peon and never having any children. Though I am pretty much the only guy from my father's side of the family who's even able to have children. If all the cousins and my sister marry, the family will pretty much die out, at least the name will and in one or two generations there wouldn't be anything left.

Though, if I someday have kids, it wouldn't be because I'd feel obligated to have them, I love kids.

I work with kids for a living. 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

So I pretty much value my kids free time when being at home :P
