theres something about people on this thread only seeing children as "problems" that doesnt sit well with me.

In what way?

I second this question, I'm equally curious.

Me too Me too.

What happens to a child if he or she lives in a world where he or she is unloved and unwanted?

They become a Hollywood actor/actress Image IPB

What happens? The modern world?

I think in general people are more childish these days. Back during the day, people got together, got married, had kids. War also played some part in all of this, at least in Finland. We actually discussed this with my mum not long ago and she said that if her life and the world had been what it is now, she probably wouldn't have had kids because the mere thought would've scared the crap out of her.

Alot of people seem to just...whip the kids up and then expect it to "fix itself". My mum's fiance has a 6 year old grandson...it's his 26 year old daughter's son and this awesome little guy is always spending the weekend at some grandmas or grandpas place because his mother "wants free time and to spend quality time with his new guy". The father of this kid hasn't been in the picture in a while...

When he was at my mum's place he suddenly asked my mum "Do I have a real father?". Poor kid is so confused that he doesn't even know if he has a father...I felt like I'm going to burst to cry when my mum told me about this. This child is so awesome and funny and innocent and yet he has to think about things like that...

My parents split when I was 18 but damn....at least I had an awesome childhood.

Yeah no thank you. Do not want.

They'll make me fat, have to waddle around like a penguin for 9 months and just no. Plus I'd have to waste my money on them.

Not for me.

I'm not some heartless monster. If I were for some reason put in a position where I had to take care of a child, I wouldn't neglect it, abandon it to state custody, or otherwise compromise the child's health and safety.

Although, one could argue sending the kid to a public school is compromising its health. LOL.

But I'm not going to have kids. I'm not even in a relationship of any kind, so the chances of me fathering a child is nil.

@OP - I have pets, why do I need kids? Image IPB

I like other peoples' kids (well, let's be honest - some of them, not all of them), so I'm not a total hater, I just don't feel any desire to have any. Never have, never will.

Yes, definitely. Before I'm 35. Sure, there are going to be medical advances and stuff in the future but I want to be able to be physically active with my kids. Be a good role model for them so they have a healthy lifestyle.

I have no interest with kids. An ex of mine used to talk about wanting to have a kid all the time but the thing was she wanted ME to have the baby. Wants the kid but none of the suffering lol. I don't have anything against kids it';s just not something i ever felt i wanted for myself and my partner feels the same about kids. We prefer pets instead.

There is always the sperm donation angle if you want to ensure your progeny shall cover the earth and not have any legal responsibilities towards raising them. You can actually make quite a bit of money with donations, some guys in their twenties can actually have a bit of a "career" in it

Yes I do want kids someday. I don't have any right now because I'm too young, not mature enough yet, can't afford any, I'm a gay male, and even if I weren't I'm not particularly attractive so..... yeah. >_>

I feel like I'd be a terrible mom at present. I'm just so ... irresponsible towards myself, how can I take care of someone else? Though I am getting better. Maybe in a few years ... I'm running out of time for 'my own', but I swear I'd be fine with adopting a baby girl when the time is right. (Or a boy. Who would be a guaranteed male feminist by the time he's ten. Which would be a good thing... hmm ;) )

Someday.

I view kids as more important than myself already but I don't have the power/money/time yet for kids of my own.

I also don't get the kid hate in this thread, we were all kids at one point.:?

I think you're forgetting that kids suck. Its kind of important to remember when discerning why people don't like them.

Right now, i'm enjoying the time I get to spend with all of my friends' kids. I love being the weird yet popular "uncle" figure, and I genuinely want to see kids being happy and healthy and growing up in a loving family and community.

I've been told I would make a great father, but before that I think I would have to become a great boyfriend and/or husband. And I just don't think I'm there yet. Also, my friends seem a little concerned when they imagine the next generation of Stans running around. :)

So you think you yourself suck back when you were a kid?

And I don't thinks kids suck I think they are just kids.:?

Hm.. children..

The idea of becoming a father in the next 2ish years scares the living hell out of me. I like to pretend I'll be prepared at some point.

But honestly, once I got going, I think I'd prolly have something in the range of 4-8. I was raised in a large family. My father was in a large family. It's in my blood. Having only 1-3 would seem really weird to me and not feel right. Seriously. Although having more than that could get a tad overwhelming.

Tis the true La Vita Locha! The life of toil and adventure! Find a woman who is daring, loyal, perhaps a bit foolish, and always wanted more siblings, and bingo!

Although I cannot see myself marrying into fatherhood. Would also feel wrong. She'd have to be pretty kickass for me to do something like that. For my misguided sense of honor, it's just.. extra tension.

Yeah,
but for those 9 months you can have all the mood swings you want with no accountability!

Although must say, "pregnancy syndrom" varies from subject to subject but at times is absolutely terriffying.  :o
