The lack of cybernetic augmentation. Yeah, there's a handful of peole like Kai Leng and Shepard who were augmented by cybernetic implants and replacements, but by and large, the vast majority of people aren't walking around with titanium arms or whatever and are instead genetically refined, which seems to be against the grain in my sci-fi experiences.
The lack of cyborgs in Mass Effect dawned on me during my drive home from work today. And while I like Cyborgs, the fact that ME doesn't have a lot of them is refreshing.
