Orzammar.  It's a major grind.  Reminds me of my WoW days.

I like long dungeon crawls, but it would be nice if we had something like a town portal so we could go sell in the middle of it.

Orzammar was epic! It had several major boss battles that were totally cool. I wish all areas took as much time and effort as the Deep Roads.

There is a portal, well not a portal but a character.  If you talk to a certain npc that gives you a mini quest and you are successful in the encounter you can sell and trade.  You can use this as a hub.  I think it's just about in the middle.Image IPB

Hmph, this does not please me. I'm just starting the Deep Roads and I hate tedious long dungeon crawls... :(

I thought it was one of the strongest, reminded me of my Eye of Beholder or Stonekeep days. It had some of the more intriguing quests, plenty of challenging fights, and special items.

Ditto. I was rich after coming out of there.

Orzammar was definitely my favorite zone. One of the few games where a dwarven city wasn't just ruins. Even if most of the dwarven cities were.  The deep roads and Orzammar, definitely well done and enjoyable.

Anyway, weakest part is probably the fact that some abilities are absolutely awesome and some are absolutely useless. But, it's not like a few patches can't fix that. Oh, also that a 2h master fights like he has no idea how to wield a 2h weapon. And can barely lift the thing. (Aside from a couple special attacks)

I think the magetower sucks the most, due to its lack of replayability ... once done, you really know the drill.

Easily the weakest part of the game are the non-quest quests.

The best examples are the ones you get in Denerim to save the refugees, or help the troops against Logain's men, or "clear out the back streets," etc. All of these are nothing more than a random encounter in which the only option is kill or be killed. And even after you complete the killfest there's not even a decent conversation tree to be had with the survivors - move along, nothing to see, do or be interested in here...very disappointing:(

I loved the Deep Roads. One of my favorite parts of the game, after both dwarven origins.

I didn't mind those side quests too much. I saw them as a little diversion and free xp/cash, a little pick-me-up to be done during slower parts of the game to spice things up again. Besides, I'd just finished Mass Effect again, and compared to those side quests these are epic.

I enjoyed Orzammar too. I love dorves (yes I call them Dorves sometimes, live with it) and am a huge fan of how they handled them in DA:O. True the deep roads got a bit tiresome, but they were broken up nicely in my opinion. I'd agree with Angeljoe that the mage tower was the worst. It was long, samey, and the detour near the end was waaaaay too tiresome and boring. The forests/ruins were a bit long, but nothing bad. Plus there was a lot more plot development along the way there than "omg demons kill!"

I think the problem with the Deep Roads was it just went on way too long. It arguably has 2 areas which bare no importance to the quest. I mean I'm used to long dungeons, I play JRPG's, but it was even worse than the worst of that genre, which is a pretty big achievement. Atleast with the Mages Tower it has some variation instead of just a constant dungeon crawl.

I enjoyed Orzammar and the mage tower, but they are probably not so fun on repeat playthroughs.

You can go back to town any time you're on the Deep Roads map.

Combat fatigue really set in on the Deep Roads, there's only so many times you can walk into a wider area and fight off a couple squads of darkspawn before you begin each battle with a heavy sigh.

I got the rest of my party to hold and sneaked past a lot of combat in the Deep Roads.

*****Spoilers******
Sneaked from Carridins Cross to the next area transition.
Then sneaked to trigger the cutscene with R*** and the spider fight
Fought my way to the spider queen
Sneaked from the Bridge past a lot of Darkspawn till I triggered the cutscene with the female D****
Fought the rest of it

I'm now in the Dead Trenches and my inventory is full. I can't just quicktravel back to Orzammar - no, I need to do a 5 minute run back to the entrance of the zone, THEN quicktravel, blah blah rant rant.  Fourth time having to do this since entering the Deep Roads.

I came to Orzammar right out of the gate (well after Lothering, second playthrough). I got into Orzammar with 3 hours on the clock... I'm now at 11. That's 8 hours of seeing the same scenery and the same style of encounters and having to run back to shop and dungeoun over and over again.  PURE exploration/combat on the 8 hours in Orz - I've been hitting "Esc" through all of the dialogue because I know exactly what's going on.  I've only been playing an hour or two a day the past several days, so I've basically been in Orzammar for a week, and I've still got a ways to go.

Really wears.  I just want it done already.

Each of the mid game locations can be very long. It may be better to finish part of it. Then go do another location for a bit of variety.

I think the only locations where you don't leave till the end is the Mage Tower and the first bit of Redcliffe village.

I loved parts of Ozammar, but it could have been a tad shorter, imo. It certainly had it's great moments, though...

The good thing about the Mage Tower is that once you know how it works, you can finish it in a couple hours.  Redcliffe village takes about an hour and a half.

Orzimmar, however... there's just no way to speed it up.  It's a long ass dungeoun crawl.  I have been tempted to leave and do other things, but I want Oghren to be fully open and conversible... but until you get to the point-of-no-return-until-you-finish-it spot in the Deep Roads, all he says is "Stop wasting time Warden, I'm not here to chat!".  I'm compelled to finish it first so I can take him with me, as last playthrough I got him at the end and sidelined him.

Worst part of the game for me was when that demon sends you into the fade in the mage tower. I can't explain why I hate that part so much, perhaps someone else here knows what I mean, but there's something about the fade that just makes me want to turn the game off.
