the fade was simply painful. Orzammar was a breath of fresh air after running in that foggy nightmare.

The 'Fade' gave me a headache  ugh.. didn't like that part of the story line.

I find it hard to say what I didn't like about the game. I guess each part of the game will have its fans and critics. As an adventurer I understand, that I sometimes may have to walk a long time through tunnels... or I wouldn't be an adventurer.

Actually the mage tower is one of the few places where you encounter a great role-play/adventure tradition: RIDDLES! :wizard:

Some more riddles may be encountered in the questline about the Sacred Urn of Ashes, but those are maybe of less consequence for solving the quest except for the one necessary to advance across the chasm.

This raises the game higher than hack & slay and just searching the next bloodshed between dialogues a lot. Especially the second time (as a mage) in the fade was unique and refreshing for me from a gamer's point of view.

I liked the fade. Interesting stuff, especially I thought.

I found most annoying was the gdamn camera angles. It's either too overhead or doesn't let you see far enough ahead when you look "over the shoulder". Incredibly annoying how it snaps between those two extremes.

the things i think are the weakest about the game:

1) human male voice choices. they all sound too young and naive. none of them really sound like a man to me. i would like the option to choose the dwarf male voices for my human.

2) tactic slots being attached to skill points

3) holding tab down all the time. this should have been a toggle.

The bridge puzzle. It took ages to figure it out. I am just not good at that sort of thing and am always annoyed when it's put into games.

You could have used google. I actually used pen and paper to write down which positions my characters needed to finally get across...

I enjoyed and wished the Deep Roads had more areas to explore, with more fights. It is the “home” of the darkspawn after all, I should have seen things down there no one else has ever seen. Bosses not included. They could have added at least 8-10 more (optional) areas to explore in there. Giant crystal caverns, underground waterfalls, unlimited possibilities. (hmm, installs Toolset... not that I could dev to save my life)

I feel the weakest part of the game is loot reward and variety.

I get that lore-wise perhaps magical items are uncommon. Yet, so many crates, boxes and locked chests open to nothing more than a root. Image IPB *sigh* Oh, or frozen lighting… huzzah!

Wish I had dozens more mage, rogue and warrior sets to pick, create or discover. Disappointing that some of the best gear for mages is simply purchased at the local stop-n-shop.

Second weakest is the look of the fade. Not very inspiring. I discovered more fascinating locales at the bottom of a mushroom in Morrowind.

Finally, why are there no critters running or flying about? The world has so much potential as a breathing active environment. Yet, not even a single squirrel, except the Hullas in Brecillian forest. The flora is beautiful but the world’s fauna seems dormant.

I liked Orzammar and agree it's the best area in the game.

The side quests are tedious and have very little immersion effect on the overall game IMO.

For me, while maybe not the weakest but most aggravating is the fact that if you miss something such as a conversation with a party member or fail to add a party member at a specific point you miss an entire section of the game and can not continue that tree ever again.

Some way to carry on these quests at a later point would be preferable to me.

Worst part of the game for me was when that demon sends you into the fade in the mage tower. I can't explain why I hate that part so much, perhaps someone else here knows what I mean, but there's something about the fade that just makes me want to turn the game off.

I hate the Fade too.  I have two characters sitting there right at the point where they have to start into it.

I really did NOT enjoy the Fade. The rest of the regions were good, but somehow...the Fade just seemed really long and unnecessary and annoying.

Orzammar was for sure a little bit too diablo 2 for my liking, it was still abidable though. Also it would be nicer to be treated a little worse as well when playing an elf. As an elf there arent enough dialogue options against humans or being afraid of humans.

Lets be honest here. The weakest part of the game is a complete lack of anywhere to rest inside of Orzammar. There is no reason that If I am in the dead trenches I should have to run all the way to the start of the Zone, then travel all the way to Orzammar, then run through Orzammar, then through Orzammars Gates, then travel to my Campsite. THat's just rediculous.

I remember this as a big immersion breaker for me.  I was miles into the deep roads and then clicked on my camp icon.  I was expecting to have camp in a "Deep Roads" setting.  Except, no, it was OUTSIDE under the stars.  Heck, even Oghren was with me and he didnt have anything to say about being outside.  Whats funny is, the first time I manually left Orzammar, Oghren was acting like it was his first time outside. "Hold on, gimmie a second."  I had to do a facepalm on that one....

Like many in this thread I enjoyed orz/deep roads and after my third play through still enjoyed it.

The fade portions of the game however are awful imo. Long and aggrivating and of little lore value to anyone but a mage. The thing that gets me is the fact that a demon can bring you there semi effortlessly but when it comes time to do redcliff you have to work at it quite a bit.

It's the Landmeet because there aren't a lot of things to do.

I mean, for dwarves you have to do a lot of quests to put the futur king on the throne then at for human futur ruler you don't any (real) quest ?

I can't stand the Deep Roads. They go on and on and on.... I'm on my second playthrough and I'm just dreading it. And it's really lame how in some areas, you have to backtrack all the way to the beginning in order to access the world map. Why in the world can't you do this right where you are?

*gets home from work*
*boots up DA:O for the first time in a few days*
*loads game, eager to begin playing*

FFS I'm STILL in the Deep Roads?!  UGH!

WHAT!  My pack is at 120/120!  Time for a town run... and I need to run all the way back to the entrance to fast travel so I can unload all this junk?!  ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRG!

I just unloaded my pack at a vendor... now I've got to run all the way back to where I was when I started my session 15 minutes ago?  WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!

I tend towards bioware fangirlism, but I've never ever liked their PC voices.  It's a petty gripe, though.

This.  I like the idea of a 'combat tactics' skill, but I wish it did something other than just reduce micromanagement.  (Because seriously, there's nothing this skill doesn't do that I couldn't manually do myself just pausing and micromanaging... well, if I had the patience for micromanaging.)
