Look--I enjoyed DA2 somewhat my 1st playthrough. But it truly lacks replayability -

I have more Hawke's than Wardens so no it truly doesn't.

I kind of find it telling that the biggest DA2 apologists all seem to have anime-type characters as their avatars.

I wouldn't call Borderlands anime like and given I do like DAO just about as much as DA2 what does that say?

The last time I checked DA:O wasn't anime either :o

I like DA2 also and I do not have an anime type character as my avatar. I also liked DAO and sinfamSP is correct DAO is not anime and neither is DA2. As far as being an apologists, I like what I like and do not apologize for anything.

I got to ask, why is everyone so dismissive of the anime? From what I have seen so far it looks ok, and considering I have seen anime's based on video game I.Ps do well before, like Dead Space and the Halo Legends anthology, I see no problem with using anime as a form of storytelling.

The same reason alot of people hate DA2: it becomes a trend.

"Oh look DA2 shows up! Let's bash it!"

"Oh look an anime! Let's bash it besides the fact we haven't seen one ever in our lives other than that one time when we were five watching Dragon Ball Z!"

Ofcourse, alot have perfectly valid reasons.

Animie (and manga) is too diversive to seriously say let's bash animie for the sake of being an anime.

That said I won't be seeing this, just as I won't read the books or the comic, simpy because I don't like mixing media. Thedas is a gameworld for me, and I won't touch the other media's.

^ I'm usually like that, but I was really impressed by Asunder. (Also, the other two novels, but especially Asunder.)

Asunder really illustrates how to do tie-in products well, in my mind. Utilise both the strengths of the franchise and the medium and come up with something both supportive and standalone. It's really thanks to Asunder that I'll look into whatever they are doing in other media. I'm pretty convinced it'll be done well, and more of the world.

I frankly don't care how good the books are (I am sure they are good), but if the lore is not presented in the games, I do not accept it. It's partly because I study litterature and pratice writing, I love to read, I love it, but I it is still study related for me right now as I have to read a lot, and gaming is my space off - so to speak. And a movie has runied good books for me so many times that I just don't swithc that way any more.
The problem with going from games to books, ,movies media - is that the books and movies destroy my canon. I know that the books exist in their own what if scenerios, but I am simply not interesting in thinking okay what happens in the game where that and that happened. And since I play female it means that 90% of the time, it is not my game it caters to.
So I simply don't mix media's. I am introducet to a book world I keep it in books, since nothing visual every could make up for how I imagine it, if it is in a cartoon I make the sound and pacing of the story, ( I have had anime ruin manga's for me), if it a game, escpially a game where I have control over the forming of the characters I am not interested in world where characther is not my charather with the skills I gave them when I have connected to them in a game world.

That's a good point; canon. Like if Alistair was king and that wasn't how you played it, I get that the comic with King Alistair might be jarring. Asunder was completely unique characters. (Well, a mild cameo or two aside.) I think DA does cross media well, compared to games franchises, but I do also get the escapism side to gaming too. (That's usually my angle on gaming.)

(PS. I'm female but I mostly play male, hence my avatar. I think it's a habit.)

It is not. From what I have glanced from the thread it features Wynne and Shale and (Perhaps Leliana is there, I am not sure with that) is there assumes that these two characthers actually are there and fought the archdemon heads on. But Wynne and Shale are my two least used characther. Shale because while I loved her I never figured out how to use her well and Wynne because my characther was the spirit healer.

Besides if I ever get around to fixing my da:o import then Wynne dies or leaves the party as the one thing I need to fix is defiling those ashes... (Which proberly mean goodbye to Leliane too, but I usally do the ashes quest last so that will be all right, and Leliana is saved by canon).

I am sure the books is good, but I won't touch them with a ten-feet long pole since this is a game world, and I simply don't want to argue the games canon. If they want to ingrate the books lore into the story they have to place it into the bagground lore in the game or I simply ignore it.

And I won't touch a male avetar when there exist a female. (Points to my Hawke who is the avetar).

Yeah, fair enough. I suppose the two cameos are fairly large, if you put it like that. (I was more focussed on the others but what you are saying makes sense.)
