The only reason I use this guy as my avatar is because of his voice actor. Upon his first sentence i recognized Kain's menacing tone. Simon Templeman has a penchant for voicing anti-heroes.
Anti-heroes, and miscellaneous Sith soldiers.

Most of the other main characters were better than the usual garbage VA in games.
Shale was a pain, as was Morrigan after 5 mins or so. Leliana was abysmal, as was Alistair. Some of the also-rans using the same 'actor' are cringeworthy.
Overall, the VA is an above average 7.5/10.

To answer the question, those Turians have some weird tastes. Something about not really having lips I guess.

The moment I heard the Dallish leader speak in the Brecillian forest, I instantly had images in my head of Tuvok the Vulcan (Tim Russ).
I think pointy ears are a prequisite for him to take on a role.

All in all I thought it was best voice acting I've heard in a video game (although I really wished David Warner would have had a part in the game). I'm particular fond of Leliana and Isolde. Probably not for the right reasons but I'm a sucker for a French accent.
David Warner. Oooooh yes!
I loved him as Jon Irenicus. He has the perfect villains voice.
And I never once thought Leliana's voice was supposed to resemble a French one. To me, it sounds more Eastern European or perhaps even Russian.

Sorry, no female voice actress is as good as Kath Soucie.

I swear we've had this thread before.
Claudia Black. She's arguably as good as Jennifer Hale, best female voice actress in the industry.

Really? These two are my favourites, Leliana in particular. May I ask why you think this? I'm not saying you are wrong or anything, tastes differ, I'm just curious as to your reasoning.Spaceweed10 wrote...

Leliana is simply a bad actress. Alistair overacts.
We all expect different things from an actor, I guess.

Tim Curry, however his performance made the character too easy to see-through. I don't know if it was intentional.
Steve Blum - I already loved his performance in Clive Barker's Jericho (not the most complicated game to be honest, but I liked the atmosphere)
And there was an occasion I got the impression I hear Robin Atkin Downes?

Plus I thought Farscape was pretty shoddy. Maybe that doesn't help.
Oh and she's Australian, not English.
However, please do not take this as an anti-Claudia post. I think she's great most of the time.

Her bio page on her voice agents web site describes her accent as Mediterranean. She does a lot of advert voice over work in French and is the voice for Coco Channel Parfum in France. She speaks a lot faster and clearer in French.

Ah, thanks for that. Lemka didn't sound like a French surname to me, hence why I didn't think her accent was French.

That would be the writer's fault, not the VA's fault. They don't write the dialogue, they just say it.Dodco wrote...
If anything, Claudia Black overacts... it's not that I don't like Morrigan's character, or indeed Claudia Black's voice or acting skills. I just sometimes think some of what Black/Morrigan says just doesn't quite fit right for the character.
I thought all the VAs did well, but I had problems understanding Leliana. I was sometimes tempted to turn on subtitles when talking to her.

Among the unsung - Jory. ^^ I had enough sympathy to try and talk him out of being a Grey Warden if the choice came that was even before I knew what would happen at the initiation rites.

Of course, right from the beginning you should get the feeling that his character is a vile villain.

Well, I found Steve Valentine's portrayal of Alistair to be completely endearing. I think the actors trying to come across as French fall a bit short though. To me, they sound like they're actors trying to do an accent, rather than having that accent naturally.
Lelianna's voice was a real French accent. What made it sound fake though was the fact that the actress learned English in London so that the cumulative affect sounds like an English person faking a French accent. I liked Lelianna's French accent when it was real but too often it felt like it slipped into English (if that makes sense).
