Well it's expensive writing the extra romances and I'm sure that Jen can set the price as high as she likes considering the resume.

The statistics Bioware released a couple of years ago say that 80% played mark meer shep...

So this might be due to advertising or something, but they've had the whole trilogy to make it generally known tht there is a femshep so I don't know why they'd go 2 whole games without trying to sell it until the very late last minute attempt at a trailer for femshep that still hasn't been shown yet.

I think the data is from a first play-through. I am sure many people have multiple sheps that are femsheps.

Out of 12 sheps, only 3 of mine are male.

And just when you think Tetris can't scrape a complaint from any closer to the bottom of the barrel this arrives.

I wonder how long this trolling will be allowed to continue.

So, Tetris, baby, how many accounts have you made, exactly?

Seriously, though, I don't think I would have ever gotten into Mass Effect as much as I did if it weren't for FemShep.  You don't see many female protagonists like her.

While the maleshep is a badass, voice acting wise, femshep takes the cake. When I play with the female shepard, it's obviously not as engaging as playing as the maleshep[my own maleshep], but I see it as playing as master chief or soap mctavish. Playing a character, instead of playing as the character.

She's definitely worth the effort.

More people play male shep but there are LOTS of female sheps. I only have 1 female shep though compared to 3 male sheps. I like male shep better in every way but Tetris you suck.

Not sure about that. The data includes people who played multiple Sheps. (and completed the game X amount of times. I'm pretty sure said person didn't import the same Shep 20+ times...that would just be weird).

I have about 20 sheps and only 2 or 3 are female. And all 3 of those aren't past Eden Prime.

It's a legitimate issue; however, Bioware has decided the FemShep project is worth spending money on.

I've never used Femshep ever

So...what's your point? Using that argument, you could also argue it's a complete waste of time have a customizable Shep all together. Just use Sheploo.

You know what, get rid of dialogue options as well, make Shep a full Character that way no resources would be wasted on Romances. Get rid of the class system as well, that way all resources can go to one set character.

Make female Shepard as equal an option as male Shepard and I wouldn't be surprised if they get more female Shepard players. It's not as if that 20% is immutable.

Part of it is marketing, too. The more marketing, the more people know about female Shepard and the more people interested in playing as female play the game. Especially if the content is as good and numerous as the male version. Which it may or may not be already depending on who you ask.

I clearly phrased this topic as a question of whther or not creating fem shep payed off financially so I don't know why people are responding emotionally. I've made no indication as to whether or not femshep was a good character, or that male was better. And how could this be seen as a complaint topic? What the ****...

BSN cannot be used to gauge FemShep's popularity. Anecdotal evidence is neither here nor there. The stats (such that are public) state that less than a fifth of all players even play a FemShep. From a pure cost/benefit perspective, spending exactly the same amount of money for an option only utilised by such a small section of the player base does seem...less than optimal.

That said I fricking love playing FemShep.

And I can't wait for Tetris to compare this subject to BG2, somehow.

It's a topic asking about the cost of making femshep relative to the statistic of only 20% of people who have that characters. Explain how starting a discussion about this is clearly a troll thread attempting to stir people up? Can you?

Until now, Femshep had not even been marketed as an option. As i've said a dozen times, I almost passed over Mass Effect cause I thought it was just another generic male space marine game with some RPG elements.

I think the clearest way to determine that it's a troll thread is that it was started by you.

Sure, and I'm glad that they did it. Still doesn't make a huge amount of sense from a relative value standpoint.

Cost effective? Probably not.

Does it fulfill the artistic vision of Casey Hudson and his team? Obviously. Sometimes artistic integrity and being true to the goals of your project are more important than considering if an extra voice actress is worth hiring.

But the take-away message from this thread is that Tetrisblock is a troll. He tries to hide behind the facade of legitimate discussion but don't be fooled. I'd say he was one of the worst elements of BSN but honestly these boards are a cesspool and he's just one spec of fecal matter in an ocean of crap.
