While the maleshep is a badass, voice acting wise, femshep takes the cake. When I play with the female shepard, it's obviously not as engaging as playing as the maleshep[my own maleshep], but I see it as playing as master chief or soap mctavish. Playing a character, instead of playing as the character.

She's definitely worth the effort.

Maybe that's why I prefer femshep even though I'm a dude. I always play RPG's the way you play Femshep. The character is NEVER me. So the gender, race (human elf dwarf), etc is not relevant. I just went with the voice actor I preferred.

Not everyone's going to agree w/ that statement and that's fine. Lucky thing we have two of them. :P

Exactly.

I for one love Meer. Yes he misses the mark at times but for me it's far far preferable to Hale's VA. (which to me at least is a shame because I love her Bastila voice. But FemShep makes me want to mute the game).

I clearly phrased this topic as a question of whther or not creating fem shep payed off financially so I don't know why people are responding emotionally. I've made no indication as to whether or not femshep was a good character, or that male was better. And how could this be seen as a complaint topic? What the ****...

Twenty percent is a truckload of money. And it's a surprisingly high percentage considering the game is about Marines (not a very "girly" genre) and the female was basically ignored marketing-wise. To me, that 20% speaks well of Hale's performance.
