I remember Thrawn from the book trilogy. Great trilogy and Thrawn was a genius... got a little bit implausible near the end though. He and everyone in imperial intelligence had every reason to believe that the republic were going to be going someplace else, but he just instinctively knew better and against all reason anticipated the exact hyperspace path and destination of the republic to ambush them? Yeah, it's a great book but it had moments of seriously hard to believe bull**** too.
