Whats your opinion, which fate fits Bethany/Carver better?

In Bethany's case, I say the circle.
Beth is really to soft to be a good Warden imO, in the circle she can study in peace and train apprentices in a good way.
Also, when siding with the templars (which I do most of the time) it is most likely she will be appointed the next First Enchantress, with Hawke as the viscount, which is (in combination with Cullen likely becoming Knight Commander) a good basis for peace.

In Carver's case, even though I'm a templar supporter, I think the Wardens are the better choice.
Because Carver really just joins the Templars out of anger and  envy.
His character experiences a better developement as a Warden imO, and there he can really prove himself and achieve something that really matters.

Your opinion?

Truth be told, I usually select based on what my character would most likely do. In regards to Bethany I choose to have her stay home (i.e. the Circle) because the Deep Rodes are dangerous, and though I know that she can take care of herself, protecting her has been a primary motivation for the character.

Carver, though I haven't done this yet, I would be more likely to select the Wardens since I know it's a lot more important to him that he joins the expedition. Bethany seems to want to go, but Carver comes off like he knows he HAS to go.

I think DA2's story is more interesting if they're in the gallows. It adds to the stakes for the ending.

Carver - Wardens.

Bethany - Circle.

My take -- both should've lived through the prologue and have the option to kill them be up to the player in Act 1 (or for CM Bethany, in Act 3).

I think it really depends what criteria you are using. In Bethany's case, I do enjoy aspects of both Warden and Circle Bethany, I guess I prefer her being in the Circle both for her sake and for more personal drama in the narrative, at least, for me. I think rushing to the Gallows to save Bethany is a little more effective at creating tension that Bethany helping me save mages I don't know personally.

Carver as both a Warden and a Templar makes for a good developments. In the case of the Warden, he finally steps out of Hawke's Shadow and becomes his own man. The DLC reflects this as he's finally more sociable with Hawke's companions. Carver as a Templar arguably provides the better story. He joins the order pretty much out of spite towards Hawke and seems to grow even more miserable. Despite this, if Hawke were to fight for the Mages in The Final Straw, Carver makes it known that his loyalty still remains with Hawke. Kind of gives an interesting spin on the "Cain and Abel" story since when pushed, Carver will not betray his brother.

Bethany is a bit harder. As nice as a she is, she's a flat character prior to the choice, with her only really dynamic being that she doesn't want to run and be a burden to her family. Circle!Bethany makes more sense for her character since she ends up getting her wish. She seems to be more melancholy as part of the circle, but unlike majority of the mages in the game (and to Anders disgust) she adapts to the circle rather well and actually seems to find her place there. That said, by the end of the game, she'll finally come to terms with why her father fought so hard to keep her out of the circle, and that her magic is a gift form Andraste, not a curse. A Warden!Bethany is resentful and hostile towards Hawke because she no longer has any place to call home. That's about all there is to Warden!Bethany other than the fact that she forgives Hawke near the end of the game.

So yeah, long story short, Circle!Bethany works best for her. Templar and Warden Carver are equally awesome.

Bethany - Circle. She hates being a warden and there's no escape from it. She eventually gets out of the Circle and even learns a nice lesson from it all.

Carver - Dead. He doesn't deserve the honor of being a warden. If he earned it on his own, that'd be one thing, but I refuse to help him after he's nothing but a hateful **** to my Hawke. It goes way beyond sibling rivalry. Carver is just human garbage. As a templar, he follows Meredith's order with the RoA and I firmly believe every templar that did that should be executed. Sadly, I can't have Hawke do so then. So I let the ogre take care of him at the start of the game or I let the taint take him in the Deep Roads.

Bethany - Circle. She seemed to be one of the mages that didn't mind being in the Circle and I think she benefited from it (not saying the Circle system is perfect though.) And even so she can end up going with Hawke at the end of the game and leaving the Circle.

Carver - Well the best for him would be becoming a Templar, but in my opinion I'd rather have him become a Grey Warden because they need recruits, especially very skilled fighters like Carver. Also iirc he acts like a bit of a douche as a Templar but I could be wrong.

For Carver, I think being a Warden is the best fate, as it allows him to step out of his sibling's shadow and grow into his own man. However, if I want a story with a really intense, bordering-on-hatred sibling rivalry, he goes to the templars.

For Bethany, I think it's the Circle. She's much happier there and at the end of the arcane-defending path, finally manages to overcome her rather deep-seated religious shame over being born a mage. Plus, she doesn't get her life cut in half and is still able to have kids of her own someday, if she wants any.

From a consequentionalist point of view (where the choices lead them) Carver in the Wardens and Bethany in the Circle work best. Those are the places they end up the happiest and where they mature most as people. Carver as a templar and Bethany as a Warden are just very unhappy, unpleasant individuals.

My problems with the choices relating to the twins is 1) the scripted death in the prologue (both that there is one and you can't choose who takes the hit), 2) Bethany's fates (she either blames her sibling for saving her life and becoming a Warden or allows herself to be taken away to somewhere that abuses people like her, wth) and 3) you don't know what you're choosing until afterwards. Unless you end Act 1 knowing you're choosing their long term fate, all you know is that you're deciding on whether or not you want them on the expedition. Anders' role as "Warden recruiter" is likewise hidden unless you already know about it.
