I've recently started a new playthrough of Mass Effect in anticipation of Mass Effect 3. I know ME1 is a few years old now, but I still think its one of the best RPG's on the market!

I love the story, and the interactions between Shepard and the crew!

So far, I've finished a Paragon playthrough with a female Infiltrator, and I've only got a few side quests, Virmire, Ilos, and the Citadel to do with my male Renegade soldier class Shepard (Oh, and Pinnicle Station and Bringing Down The Sky add-ons). I deleted all my Mass Effect 1&2 saves, so I have the story fresh in my mind.

Who else has started a new Mass Effect adventure, and what class/morality did you choose? :)

Mass Effect is still one of my favorites. On PC you can use a few tweaks to keep it looking pretty good too.

But I haven't started any more runs in it. There are a lot of things I love about it but it gets sort of tedious to me. Last year I went back to it for a while to finish off all of the achievements (all of the ally ones specifically) and then played some more just for fun.

Having started with my ultimate twelve canon Shepards (deleted my old characters). All kinds of alignments etc.. I have a spreadsheet for them, so I get as different results as possible for ME3.

Wish I could get Bring Down the Sky. But apparently they've stopped supporting it. *sigh*

I liked my Infiltrator Shep, but LOVE my sentinel Shep. Great class - in both games. Great fun to play.

Though while I think Mass Effect has an epic story and wonderful characters, I don't find it's terribly easy to actually role-play Shepard. The dialogue options are rarely reflective of appropriate attitudes, and the dialogue wheel is just clumsy. So I give up on role-playing (which is a terrible shame) and just pick the Paragon option every time.

Huh? Not supporting "Bring down the Sky"?

Just get it here: http://masseffect.co...nthesky_pc.html
If you already had it installed once, you should have the key to make it work.

Thanks, but I tried that and a need a CD key, which apparently I have to call EA support for. Which I did. To be told it's a no-go. :(

Your Mass Effect 1 CD Key. Does it not work?

Oh. Wait, the one on my gamecase?

I must be getting confused somewhere along the line. It was a while ago. There was something I had to call EA support for and they told me I couldn't get it any more...

Yep, the one on your gamecase. The utility only checks if you have a valid ME key, then generates one for the DLC unless I am mistaken.

I agree that both ME1 and 2 are epic games, not perfect but epic all the same.

My only real problem with the games is that it EA is mentioned. I'm not one to hand my hard earned cash to Corporations like EA (I don't even like paying for Starbucks FFS, great coffee, but served up by corporate trained zombies. Gimme' a smalll, independant greasy spoon cafe anyday). However, as much as I deny myself good produce for my dislike of corporations, I won't deny myself Mass Effect. So EA can take my cash for now.

I have start a new one too for ME3, i start to day with ME2. You could say i choose paragon but i try to do it how i will do it(but of course is much easier to control your self on a game than for real).

I go has a Soldier, even if i love to play has biotic too. Its a male and i took a hell of a time and work to make it look like me.
To be honest there been few times where i will have pull the trigger instead of let him/her go. But when i was after Dr.Heart Sheppard say something that i faint very wise: "You cant control what other people do, but you can control how you respond to it, on the end, thats the only thing that matters."
And so i try to follow that after that mission.

Greetings.

I played ME1 again very recently.

I completed a new saved-game just last week and I'm about to go for ME2 with that saved-game in preparation for ME3 (it's my new, definitive and perfected "cannon" Shepard). At first when I started playing it felt a bit strange since I hadn't played ME1 in a long time (probably more than a year or something similar). But it only took a few hours and I felt immersed again. I still remember, surprising even myself, during game-play that I had been on the edge of my seat during the Virmire mission, which in my opinion is the best of the game and best represents the whole concept of choices and consequences of the Mass Effect series.

Also, that speech given by Sovereign on Virmire, its voice, the script... it still gives me chills to this day, especially the «You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it.» part. Yes truly, ME1 is already a classic within the video gaming industry, it left its mark, regardless of the sequels.

For me, Mass Effect as always been about the story. And, for me Mass Effect 1 will always be my fave! Yes, it had problems, but I liked how you could "explore" the galaxy, land on an uncharted world, get out of the Mako, and think "I'm the first human to stand on this planet" Mass Effect 2 didn't have the same feel to me...(don't get me wrong, Mass Effect 2 is amazing!)

I never used the default Shepard, I made my own....

I think I've been doing the same thing as everyone else... a new playthru to take through ME2 & into ME3.
An interesting thing I found is;
As a Paragon Infiltrator when asked by the Shadow Broker for the Cerberus files, in the past I'd given them to him (always handy to have info sources), knowing the results from ME2 has me telling him to b*gger off... which is a form of Metagaming I normally don't do in RPG type games...
anyone else do something like that ?
Also, I noticed when System scanning, finding things like the medallions, disks & writings, there is a little story like; "Tali was scanning the data when she identified a spurious signal. she investigated...etc" I never noticed that in the past (in approx 12-13 playthru's), normally just checked the bottom of the notification to see what I'd just gotten...

My biggest pet peeve is the Maco on the mountains trying to get to stuff, drives me mad, other than that, it's great.

This. Mountains suck, Mako rocks, and the Hammerhead is a poor second.

One of the best games ever, and in my opinion the sequels got even better. The funny thing is I can't be all good or all bad but more or less start acting from my own morality. Sometimes though i just can't refrain from hitting someone rude when the opportunity arises. Loads of fun Posted Image

I started a new Mass Effect run a few weeks ago, after playing ME3 to death over and over but not having played ME1 for more than a year.

I'm doing a Paragade run with a male vanguard. A vanguard was my very first character, but as such I made some bad calls that resulted in some dead characters I later missed. For example I accidentally got Mordin and Legion killed in ME2, and in ME1 I sacrificed Kaidan but later wished I'd saved him instead, etc.

So I'm returning to the vanguard and doing things the way I want to this time. :) Also I made him a Ruthless Colonist. A complicated character who has a huge chip on his shoulder against batarians, he began as a total renegade but his friends are starting to soften him toward a more paragon way of thinking.

I just finished rescuing Liara from Therum, and have been cruising the galaxy a bit before returing to the Citadel to cash in some quests. I forgot how much I loved exploring the galaxy and how much fun the ME1 vanguard is to play!

I love Mass Effect too! SO glad I found this thread (even though it's 6 months old!) I always play with the first Commander Shepard I ever made, he just looks so awesome and suits to be the canon Shep TBH. I honestly can't play the Mass Effect series without it looking like him, its SO hard! Especially the fact that I can't edit his appearance later on in the game.
