I liked it in IcewindDale you could make your own then add a pre built history. Then maybe have a few quest driven npc's to round out your core team.

I really believe that if it is handled well, Sandal could be an awesome companion. What makes me think this is that he seems to be "improving" regarding his condition. In origins, he really only ever said enchantment and thank you. In DA 2, he talks much more, and about different things. I think that they could have his power develop even further, and he is gaining some control, and he does not appear to be as lyrium addled as before, which is the path he seems to be going. It would be awesome to have a dwarven mage as a companion.
This type of character has worked before in video games, like Sheemie in the Dark Tower books (what what stephen king fans!), and if bioware handled it well, he could be an awesome, and somewhat troubled kid. He could have a companion mission where you go into the deep roads, and he has flashbacks of what happenned to him, since Bodahn just found him there and no one has any idea what happenned. I think that would be awesome

Adult compagnions like in DAO, Especially the romanceble caracters in DA2 where so badly written I coudn't connect so no I would not care to see them at all in DA3. Aveline and Varic I wouldn't mind seeing again in DA3. And no cruelty like is done with the Anders caracter in DA2, I liked him in Awakening, dit not recognize him in DA2 but if you must use Fenris, Merrill, Nathaniel or Isabella. Ok that last bit was uncalled for but I really hated those imature caracters.

How is nathaniel immature? he was one of my favorite companions in awakening, and i like having him in DA2. his character history is cool, and if you played as a human noble, it gets even better.

I do agree that merrill and isabela were shallow characters, although isabela's hotness let me overlook that. I actually think fenris is a really good character that could have been handled better. i totally understand where his prejudices come from, and i think he would have been better if he was a somewhat more sympathetic character. I think bioware upped his ****ness because he was the morrigan of DA2, they needed to have a character that was CLEARLY more of a rival character than a friendship one. he was the only character i went rival with.

I'm just hoping for a diverse group. Not just humans, with one elf and one dwarf. So I'm guessing the group will have 8-10 companions in DA3. The group shouldn't be too large, thus giving them more screen time and interaction with the hero.

1) Human Templar (female)
2) Human mage (male)
3) Elf archer (male)
4) Qunari warrior (female)
5) Dwarf beserker (female)
6) Demon (magical being)
7) Fex dualist (not even sure what they look like, hopefully a beast race) (male)
8) Elf bard (female)

DLC
9) Ash warrior (seemed cool in DAO, want to see more of them)
10) ????

You want a demon, a mage, and a templar in the same party.

...

(So, a demon, a mage, and a Templar all walk into a bar...)

For a dream party of returning characters Morrigan, Sigrun and Varric would be amazing. (Banter A'hoy!)

Another Kossith party member would be cool as well; Qunari or Tal-Vashoth, either could be interesting.

And a hench elf. With a tragic backstory about how he was picked on for having arms the size of tree trunks and a great big bushy beard.

First of all, you guys are forgetting that Sten and many other Qunari say that females are not warriors. They are all priests or shopkeepers. Tallis isn't even a warrior, she wasn't even ordered to kill Salit she did it of her own volition knowing full well that doing that might bring really bad repercussions on her status in the Qun. As for characters I think they need to bring Morrigan, Alistair and Varric back. Also make Alistair romance-able because I want to romance him in DA3! (I know I could have in DA:O but it seemed better storywise to have a male warden romance Morrigan.)

... lol a male tranquil possessed by a desire demon. his purpose is to make everything awkward. hes 'romanceable' to the point of you can hit on it all you want and it will hit on you back... till all of the sudden he just stares at you with a blank look on his face and dose nothing. and the whole game the demon makes bizarre come ons to all of the companions, and when they finally ask him what hes talking about he responds in that creepy monotone voice and stairs at them. silence ensues... and then the tranquil wonders why everyone stairs at him funny.

I think that's an excellent idea for a companion! Not the Tranquil part, but rather the idea of a companion who is  possessed by a Desire Demon. Sure you had Anders and Justice, but Justice only appears as Vegeance in the Fade, and during times of high stress/emotion.

I'm thinking either an attractive female kossith (Qunari), or male elf - but only if elves are to be taller than in Origins/same height as in DAII. The former, a 2-handed warrior, the latter an archer rogue. Maybe you have to choose which one she possesses.

If kossith, one minute she's this subservient (thanks Sophia Dryden for the word) Qunari type, the next she's this evil temptress - as opposed to Morrigan who was only a temptress towards a Warden she likes. Maybe one of the other companions has no knowledge of the demon inside her, and stupidly becomes "quite taken".

If elven, he's this cruel selfish person, who often finds himself doing things he'd never do. Perhaps he fools others, inadvertedtly. Eventually there's a climax that changes his tune or involves his fate being decided by the player.

I want to see the return of Shale in Dwarven form. In addition, I think a either a mutant, vampire, or werewolf afflicted character could be desirable. Let's throw in a phoenix for good measure.

The only desires I have about specific companions are to have a Saarebas as a companion, but only if you can't play as a Qunari mage.

Before anyone responds to the difficulties in having a Saarebas as a companion, I'd immediately leap to: Fenris has lyrium running through his veins. I'm sure they could come up with a way that a Saarebas (I mean specifically a Qunari) could be a party member without his Arvaraad tagging along. We know that the majority of Saarebas don't have their tongues cut out, so he could be a vocal party member, perhaps seeking to complete the mission assigned to his Arvaraad, and going along with the PC for that purpose.

I'd also like no more than eight. And more non-humans. Perhaps two dwarves this time. Oh and this hardly needs to be said, but a Templar. It would be preposterous if there wasn't a Templar in the party.

Finally, no Chevaliers. I don't want an obligatory companion just because they're in Orlais. I'd also like the companion acquisition to be much more gradual. Like 3 in the first few areas, and then gradually one after the other as the story progresses.

oh oh! a templar (the lyrium addiction is optional. it would add something interesting) that actually wanted to reform the circle and was even working on it himself. his words along the lines of ' what if the towers are only keeping the mages in the same place so the demons have a freeking buffet. we need a better solution than keeping them prisoner and sealing their fate as food.' (obviously worded more eloquently) he may have even been getting somewhere in the ranks, to the point were some templars or mages that you run into in game may have even read his books and writings. but now after the mage uprising all that he worked for is for not in his mind and he fears that all this will only lead to, not the mages being dragged to towers any longer, but to a world were mages are killed on sight and they start being hunted like animals. as the story progresses he either becomes more distraught at the carnage and numbs himself to that fact of never being able to see his dream realized, or (with the help of the player) starts plans to build a better chance for mages. i guess kinda the opposing end of what Anders was doing, but ultimately the same goal of freedom, showing that there may have actually been another way and now you'll never know.

What about something completely out of the box and new? No more dwarven berserkers and elven mages, what about a Female Qunari Tal'vashoth? Maybe even as LI? Now thats a character with almost unlimited potential.

IMO the Qunari are one of the more interesting factions of the DAO universe, I want them to have a bigger presence in DA3, and a companion would be perfect. And we already had a male Qunari warrior in DAO, next logical thing would be a female Qunari heretic.

Like The Woldan said, a Female Tal-Vashoth who didn't like her non-combative role. I want to see a female giant stomping on stuff...

I miss Shale :crying:
