The burning question here I think is... could YOU stand a playing in a setting where 99% of the npcs use faux-French accents?
I think I'd go crazy.

It's better than american-accented dwarves pretending to be british.

Whoever thought it would be cool for that sodding dwarf sodding Oghren sodding to sodding say sodding sodding sodding every sodding other sodding word sodding should sodding be sodding shot.

I could handle it. Faux-french is hot.

It's the moustaches that worry me.

Oh, yes. That would be awesome. I really like listening to that accent...

I think I'd rather find the whole thing fascinating. The court system with everyone stabbing everyone in the back. The Chevaliers. Probably more color. Nice colorful ruins that have been dusted and decorated with flowers. That sort of thing.

I wouldn't mind dealing with more Orlesians, or visting Orlais. But no I wouldn't like it if it were all set there. Not because of the accent really. But because I want to see the consequences of our actions on Ferelden.

Faux-French I could handle. Real French accent, no. I have a hard time following it.

I don't think it's a faux-french accent. From what I've read, Leliana's voice actress actually is French or lived in France extensively. Could be mistaken. Stuff on the internets has been untrue before.

I wonder how the British people feel about all the stereotypical brit-speak and over-the-top accenting in most Western fantasy games.

Er... it depends on the faux. If they're all like Anora's elf-servant-thing, then no. I couldn't ****ing stand it.

But if most of the accents are on par with Leliana's, then yeah, I don't think I'd mind -much-. It'd still be a lot of french accents in one place...

I suppose if our characters are Orlesian, they could do the old language switch that they sometimes do for television and movies. Everyone speaks plain English, but it's intended and understood that they are speaking another tongue.

Maybe add a Ferelden character, and give them an exotic non-English accent. Could be interesting. Or just confusing.

Leliana's accent I can handle, but if all the character's sound like Marjelione then I'm going to commit infanticide.

Maybe they could actually speak French . . . err I mean Orlaisian . . . with British err . . . Fereldish subtitles.

I think it would be cool, I like the accent. I would hate to go to Qunari's land and have to deal with a bunch of Stens though. I don't mind Sten, just a lot of them would be a little too much.

There are a number of people in the real world with "muddled" accents because they grow up in odd circumstances or move to other countries etc. And even within a country like France there is a fair variety of different accents to be heard.

I don't know, in Sten's Fade dream his Beresaad buddies seemed rather more mellow in their tone.

I can barely stand Leliana's voice acting as it is, although I did like the French girls at the Denerim market, Isolde and Marjolaine. Except when she's getting all flustered, that was pretty cute.

If everyone in Orlais talked like Leliana I'd go genocidal. But for the chance to be a Chevalier I think I'd suffer for it gladly.

True. I should have specified that I find Quebecois hard to understand. Although I've been to France and had a difficult time following it there as well.

Hell I sometimes can't understand Americans from the South and they're speaking my own language.

I like to think that Sten was mildly accented and that the rest of the Qunari are Germans.

If they all had wacky German accents I'd go there, otherwise Orlais or Antiva.

Qunari seem more like reverse-native-americans.

Reverse in that they got on their boats and invaded us first.

No, I couldn't, and I think Bioware knows this too. It is more likely it will be Ferelden again, altough perhaps, with invaders- and more politics and stuff. I hope to see more from Sten!

Except for the whole "hating magic" bit. Almost every Native American tribe was intensely spiritual... in fact, the Qunari are the ones with the vastly superior technology because of it.

The whole idea of requiring to be stoic, never losing your blade, strict warrior society based around honor seems more in tune with Samurai ideals.

Better than Orzammar.  I half expected there to be hockey games involved.  (JK Canadians, I love you <3)

I find some French accents to be lovely.  Fakes ones can be really grating on the ears though.  I'm surprised I didn't here more Quebecois sounding people since Bioware's in Canada, but there weren't THAT many Orlesians in the game I guess.

I hope it's not Ferelden again. Maybe parts of it, but Thedas is so big. Surely there's a lot of variety to be had.
