True. I should have specified that I find Quebecois hard to understand. Although I've been to France and had a difficult time following it there as well.
Oh please don't remind me. I have been in Quebec for 2 years and my French has been ravaged
I used to have the perfect Parisian accent...

Qunari seem more like reverse-native-americans.
Reverse in that they got on their boats and invaded us first.
Except for the whole "hating magic" bit. Almost every Native American tribe was intensely spiritual... in fact, the Qunari are the ones with the vastly superior technology because of it.
The whole idea of requiring to be stoic, never losing your blade, strict warrior society based around honor seems more in tune with Samurai ideals.
That depends on what native americans you talk about.
The nations of south america such as the Inca and Aztec were steeped in occult, "magical" rituals, human sacrifice, etc.
Granted there is a bit of medieval Japanese in the Qunari too.

True, but the Qunari are the ones with cannons. They do fit the mysterious stoic warrior stereotype though.

And I guess in Orlais we could at least shop for shoes.

I wonder how the British people feel about all the stereotypical brit-speak and over-the-top accenting in most Western fantasy games.
Well, I hated Oren from the moment he opened his gob.
And I'm glad he's dead, ha!

I wouldn't mind dealing with more Orlesians, or visting Orlais. But no I wouldn't like it if it were all set there. Not because of the accent really. But because I want to see the consequences of our actions on Ferelden.

Also, Master Ignacio has a wonderfully done accent. Boo to Marjolaine though.

I hope that a second Dragon age game, some expansion or even dlc would take place in Orlais or Antiva (a land with the crows would be quite cool as well)

I do think, incidentally, that "hours and hours on end of Orlesian accents" is absolutely one of the reasons they wouldn't base it in Orlais. I love Leliana but wall to wall Orlesians will get annoying after a while.

the game is called dragon age. I expect a tvinter/dragonkin invasion to swallow up much of the continent at some point.
That is a very good point... maybe the blight was just the preperation for whats coming...hense the "origins" bit ... interesting

Actually, both are real french accents.Rattleface wrote...
Er... it depends on the faux. If they're all like Anora's elf-servant-thing, then no. I couldn't ****ing stand it.
But if most of the accents are on par with Leliana's, then yeah, I don't think I'd mind -much-. It'd still be a lot of french accents in one place...
The servant one is just much stronger, while Leli's one is softer.
The Quebec accent is very, very different from the french one.Xaila wrote...
I
find some French accents to be lovely. Fakes ones can be really
grating on the ears though. I'm surprised I didn't here more Quebecois
sounding people since Bioware's in Canada, but there weren't THAT many
Orlesians in the game I guess.
And yes, I could totally play in Orlais. I look forward to it, even. I just hope we would be able to take the point of view of Orlaisians and not just have them as the big bad enemy.
Yeah, emphasis on the "hunt down"KnightofPhoenix wrote...
