I have never had a problem with Jacob myself,  I think the hate he gets is riduculous.  Though I do keep my female shepards at a distance.  I know it has been two years for you Shepard but try to keep control.

I love Jacob, Hes your bro!!! I want to spill drinks with him and everyone else on the citadel at the end of ME3.Then Shepard will try to dance one last time but then Legion and Thane bust Shepard out.

I honestly don't care too much about Thane, but the arbitrariness annoyed me because a) I still didn't trust Jacob myself, and of the other mercs, killers, psychos, and smurf templars on the ship, the one he takes issue with is the lizard guy who, despite being an assassin, is probably the least likely to lose his sh*t and murder everyone aboard.

Actually, he's the best one to comment on the squad if you're ready or not, like Joker is for the Ship.  I think anyone who isn't reading guides would appreciate that.

  I don't play Femsheps so I'm not inclined to comment on the Relationship thing, I skip all of them.

I don't do relationships either. Even typical conversations with him are served with a side of sleaze. Trust me, every time I initiated a conversation, I wanted to punch Shepard (and myself) in the ovaries.

Edit: To clarify, I actually like Jacob. I doubt anyone actively hates him. There's just not enough there to.

Yeah, that's just partly true.
All the female players preferred a lot more Garrus and Thane. I think you can compare the two genders preferences this way:

Tali/Garrus: favourites, they have so many fans that they HAD to be able to be full squadmates in ME3

Thane/Jack: the "different" romance, they both are troubled and difficult people (for different reasons). Not enough fans to return as full squadmates.

Miranda/Jacob: they was intended to attract the same target of audience yet Jacob failed badly. TBH I still think that Miranda should have been a full squad mate in ME3 but that is off topic.

Miranda and Jack grew on me - I love Samara and Mordin - I find Legion interesting.

The rest of them I really want off my ship (yes, I know that I'm screwed as far as Liara, Tali, and Garrus go)

I don't "hate" Garrus and Tali - I find them fun - but ultimately forgettable.

Liara I out right loathe.

 If I had to hazard a guess, it would probably be Wrex... Actually I think the 4 out of the top 5 would be from the first game.  Wrex, Garrus, Tali, and Liara.  Other than that... Legion and Mordin would also probably be somewhere towards the top.  The least popular are probably Kaiden, Jacob, Jack, and Miranda.

I always felt like he was intended to have some big fight with Thane (like Miranda/Jack and Legion/Tali) that was cutted from the final game (like the one between mordin and Grunt).

I think the worst bit is how bad his counsel is. Not one solid piece of advice (not one!). With Miranda, I at least knew to take her nonsense with a kilo of salt, seeing as how she claims to be "an excellent judge of character" and then merrily proceeds to be wrong about nearly everything thereafter.

The least popular are probably Kaiden, Jacob, Jack, and Miranda.

Doubt that. Especially the last one.

Even though he is not really a squadmate I still think Joker is worth mentioning. He has been there since day 1 and he is proven himself on multiple occasions.  Plus in someways he keeps Shepard honest.

I like most of the characters, even the ones I don't like as much I still find something to like. Except Morinth, I have never saved her, and intend to do so only on my failthrough.

Top of the list: Wrex, Garrus, Tali, Mordin, Ash, Kaidan and Thane.

Bottom: Morinth

Last person on the top of the list: Jacob

I agree with this...Seems kind of obvious that they were setting up conflicts between crew members  but simply ran out of time....

Miranda though...to this day, I love Miranda partly because of her character design and partly because of how WRONG she is....Seriously, have you ever seen the video where you pick the 2nd fire team leader on the SM? You pick Garrus and Miranda's is all :?:?

Pick Samara and Miranda is :O:O:O

Can you ever fail at failing Miranda?

As far as ME1 goes, its a mix between Ash, Garrus, Wrex, and Tali.

For ME2, its Team Dextro.

For ME3, likely any combination of ME1 squaddies.

Being that she is cerberus she probably isn't fond of Turians.  In fact hating turians is probably one of the first things they taught her back in cerberus 101

Over all I like most of the squad mates so its pretty hard for me to choose but I'd say my favorites are Garrus, Tali, Miranda, Kasumi and Mordin. I don't get all the love for Wrex personally, I mean I don't dislike him hes pretty cool and all but idk I don't get it. Really the only people I don't like are Jacob, Kaidan and Ashely.

Wrex's sarcasm and deadpan delivery are likely what sells him. He's also the only squadmate who has something interesting to say (Tali and Garrus were practically furniture in ME1) that doesn't lead him to jump down Shepard's knickers, which is a plus in my book.
