How did this thread get derailed by discussion of a banned troll that some people want for a squadmate and homosexual LI?

Thane was the LI for my female renegade playthrough actually like him a lot...but Grunt is universally my favorite character.

My top 5 Miranda, Wrex, Garrus, Ashley, and Grunt. We need a perma krogan unless Vega is as tough as one. I almost always had one in squad.

From what I can tell it goes, Tali, Garrus, Wrex, and then Legion or Mordin, then a combination of the remaining, with Jacob, Miranda, Jack or the VS at the bottom. In general anyway. As for me, it's Garrus, Wrex and Legion, and I'm not sure which one I like the most.

Legion was the most insanely poppular squad member introduced by ME2 despite his limited role....Liara's popularity diminished due to personality change and kaidan/Ashley had a horrible appearance making many dislike them....Wrex just kind of faded into the background with a small and limited role.

So that leaves us with the big three faces of ME3....the most important and impacting roles on Shep's success....Tali, Legion and Garrus. Legion makes a return with a role that is insanely expanded and all important....as it should have been from the first millionth of a second of ME2.

i'm pretty sure garrus' popularity stems at least partially from having some fun dialogue. it's similar to what made wrex so great minus not having wrex as a squadmate in the 2nd ME.

my personal favourites would be mordin and legion. combat-wise i've been sporting miranda + X for the longest time. being a soldier with heightened AR + mattock AND having that dmg-boost miranda provides is just stupidly powerful.

I think Tali, Garrus, Ashley, Liara, and Miranda have the biggest fanbases.
Jack and Wrex have pretty big fanbases too, but not AS big as those five.

Ya I was talking more just in general popularity, but on the discussion of usefulness, despite how much I hate her, Miranda is a cheap and useful addition. However my personal squad preference is Tali + Legion and sentry spam for dmg sponge, works extremely well.

Really? From what I've seen Grunt doesn't have a big fanbase at all.

Maybe he was talking about his own personal favorites.

But yeah, I think we are talking about the fanbase as a whole Grunt is probably somewhere in the middle. He doesn't register as one of the favorites and out of the two Krogan squaddies, Wrex is by far more popular.

Miranda had a pretty nice group buff, EDI has some really nice skills, her decoy was actually pretty useful for me to snipe enemies, Grunt, Wrex, Ashley, Garrus, and Vega I used a lot because i let them draw fire while i killed things, Liara is a beast with her biotics....Thane and I killed things extremely fast

Garrus is my favorite, and I have used him in almost every mission throughout Mass Effect 2 and 3. Mordin is my second favorite, and my third is Samara. Miranda gets the runner up medal. I used Ashley for every mission in Mass Effect, but I did not find her useful in the 3rd.

There's not a squadmate I don't like, personally. There's a few who are a little less interesting than others but my favourite is Tali with the other aliens from the first game and Thane coming in closely behind.

I think most people prefer the aliens over the humans anyway.

I hardly ever used Garrus in ME1, my squad of choice was often LIara and Tali, who I felt were able to handle any situation, I'd swap Tali for Grunt when I needed a heavy hitter.

ME2 saw me using Garrus a lot more, but I'd always rotate my team combinations according to the mission I was doing, as some combos work better in different situations.

ME3 sees Garrus as pretty-much a permenant squad member, regardless of the mission....

Easily Garrus and Tali. The only two squad mates to be with Shep throughout the Trilogy attests to tneir popularity.
