This is something I'm a bit curious about, and I'm not sure if any of the bio writers feel like answering. But I stumbled across an odd npc that was just an enemy basically, but kind of an odd sort. He was a Qunari Mercenary working for Jarvia in Dust Town of Orzammar.

I'm kinda curious, do you guys and gals come up with stories for these non-dialog characters seemingly out of their element? Like was he found by a surface dwarf and then raised, he foster dwarf parents got killed and he got easily manipulated by a shady dwarf into working as muscle...and eventually he comes to meet his end at the PC's blade?

:D

Anyone else have any weird npc sitings they are curious about?

The Mages in the Cult of Andraste, those people living in a tiny village cut off from the rest of the world sure have a penchant for producing "gifted" offspring. Maybe it has to do with drinking dragon's blood? But that's how Reavers are made...

I suspect everyone can use magic to some degree in the DA universe.  If you listen to Alistair talk about Templar training, Templar abilities are spells, they don't even need Lyrium potions to use them, it's just an addiction that allows the Chantry to control them.  I suspect Bard songs are also spells.  It's just that most people can't cast spells without training, and those who can are taken to the Circle for training.

That could be true, but I believe its Dagna, the dwarf who says something about the Tevinter Imperium keeping a geneoligy of all families known to produce magic wielding offspring. Most mages in the game seem to be sensitive to it due to being born that way (ie: Connor, Wynn set a boys hair on fire, the Qunari cut out the tongues and dismember thier mages but keep them alive because its part of  nature). Most of the Codex entries on magic seem to point to people being born with it but who really knows. Maybe the sequels will elaborate for us.
