Actually that an alternative.Chuck Fandango wrote...
Why would anyone want to know everything about a game before they've even played all of it!? I don't read books & skip ahead to see who did it, ruins the whole story! This is the same thing. First playthrough, for me, is about discovering the game, following the narrative & learning by trial & error what armour/weapons are best, what decisions are best & give what outcomes etc.....
Maybe at a later date, in order to get the best stuff & max paragon/renegade score..... but after I already beaten the game & won't be hit with major plot spoilers!

I'm gonna buy it just to have it. This is the last game of a great series, and I....wow, I never bought a collectors edition of anything before. Huh.

I had a Prima guide for StarCraft that came with little printouts of each race's tech trees. It was the coolest damn thing ever.
I think I'm getting this for nostalgia and because I'm a stats nerd.

The Guides come release day or before, where have you seen a guide release after a game is
just stupid, if you're a completionist then yeah it is useful and to some it is not a waste of money.
I'm talking about online guides.
And I never said it wasn't useful to everyone, I said it wasn't useful to ME. I remember back in the day when game manuals were like mini-guides themselves and those came with the game! Now they are like leaflet brochures with just a few pages, kind of pointless.
But only actual collectors should get the guide, completionists can get all they need and more from the internet in the days following release. That's not being dumb or cheap, its being smart. But its your money, use (or waste) it however you please.

This...well, a little. As someone who has two ME tabletop games in the works (one part-time and one down the pike), this sounds like it might be worth it to me for system-building.AdmiralCheez wrote...

Collectors guide on Amazon for only 27 bucks? It's tempting, but I don't know if it's necessary.
Might be fun though, as it'll probably tell what happens with events I won't be importing...

Then don't use 'em. As for me, there's too much information in a lot of games for me to just remember, so it's nice to have a handy little reference. Sure, I could take my own notes or look stuff up, but I don't always have internet access and my handwriting is awful.jreezy wrote...

Take, for example, Pokémon. There are over 600 of those little bastards now, and there's no way I can retain every little detail about them. So if I want to build a good team, I'd want to know their types, stats, movesets, abilities, the works. And I've always liked reading books better than staring at screens.
Having a book that details all weapons, mods, armor parts, and powers would be great for someone like me. I could get really detailed with my loadouts, and indulge in my nerdery by working out a bunch of stuff on paper. I'm a visual learner--looking at graphs, making my own, and writing stuff down is how I roll.
And having a bunch of tabs open pales in comparison to a big, shiny book in my lap.
Ah, to be a geek

I often only use them after I beat a game. However more recently, I just alt-tab since online guides tend to be more comprehensive. That said I pre-oredered the ME3 guide for the behind the scenes stuff. I'm into that kind of thing.
