Hey Everyone,

So here is the issue. I have a basic room with two light. One is ambient and the other is static just like all the tutorials show you. When I click on render lightmaps, it tells me that I don't have any lightmaps for all the objects in my room which is ok. The problem is then it just hangs there. The progress bar at the bottom right is at 100% and just sits there forever and does nothing. I have installed the python 2.5 from the links on the wiki site. Anyone have an idea of why it just hangs?

it can take a long time (15 minutes for a 256x256 area for me).

are you sure it is not making progress? my computer quit making hard drive noises and i figured it was stuck, but actually it was still going.

Yeah. I had it run for 30 minutes and nothing still. I don't know if it has to do with the python extensions or not but I did a little test. I installed python 2.5 with no extensions and it finshes the "job" but gives an error of missing a file. Thats no surprise because I didn't have the extensions. As soon as I install the extensions and render lightmaps, that's when it hangs.

Is this on a full export? or just rending lightmaps in a level?

Well I'm going to recommend my standard of:

Create an exterior level with default options

Add a light

Set it to Ambient

Render

Should take 10-15 seconds at most. If it hangs, then something is borked with your install. If not, then something is wrong with the room. Afraid I can't help much with interior levels since I'm still working on writing the manual for the exterior level editor.

You do start rendering by clicking on the light bulb, right? Rendering from the "Export Everything" menu where it says "Render lightmaps and wait" will do exactly what it says: It waits forever and never continues. The light bulb button works just fine for me.

You ran into the same problem I have, skip Rending light maps and wait.... and allow everything to export., then Do a post ALL to local. (located under tools > export) ... and everything should export just fine.
