I'm actually suprised by the number of posts people have made saying they can't wait for DA3.

Don't get me wrong, I've played it 3 times, I love Ander, Fenris, Varric, Aveline, Merril and Isabella, and I totally love the rivalmance. They're all great characters but I wish the overall main plot was better. I replayed it for the characters but not for the main story.

People are upset that there might not be anymore DLC, that's shocking to me too. Sebastian was a let down, barely in it for 5 minutes (not literally of course but it felt like that), and Legacy had an interesting ending but was kinda boring up until then, only entertaing part was your Hawke's LI moments or Anders going pyscho moment. I haven't even bothered with the last dlc.

I wish DA2 wasn't so rushed and so buggy. I wish the the same texture wasn't used over and over again for dungeons and locations, I wish there was more intersting places to discover. I never felt the tension caused by the Qunari, that whole side plot could have been written better, it never felt like a main story. The main story didn't get interesting until the until near the end.

I didn't like how they added cooldown for potions, why do they need cooldowns, why??? Do you need to use telekensis to drink them or something?

I miss seeing the objects rendered in inventory, I didn't like the generic symbol attach to the item.

And what the hell happened to Allistair's face!!!! He looks like his face has been flatten with a shovel!!

After that, after taking too many shortcuts and cutting back, I haven't put my hopes up high for DA3, I hope I'll be wrong but I can wait, I can wait a year, or two or three. I'm in no rush to be disappointed again. I just hope after waiting that they don't rush the game again.

So again, who here can wait for DA3 and aren't super excited for the next installment?

I can wait. For a good reason. Haste makes waste. Rushed games aren't all they can be. I would rather wait two or three years for a great game than one year and five months for a good game.

Trouble is, if we wait for 3 years, they'll probaly rush it out in the last 6 months of those years.

I agree with dragonflight288. I've played games that were rushed through to production before and not only are they not as good, but there are areas that you can tell they meant to put more into the basic game but didn't because they didn't have time. Now with the era of DLC upon us that's a little less of an issue, but I must confess I get annoyed at DLC. I always end up thinking "If this is so great, why wasn't it in the box to begin with?"

Agreed. I still remember the crap Bioware was posting in reply to those who were worried that they were rushing the game. The arrogance, and know it all posts they made right before locking each topic. As if the success of DA:O and the ME series have gotten to the Dragon age team's heads and infalted their egos. Hopefully with the reception and fan rage(a lot of both fanboyish bs rage and logical rage) the game received did a blow to their pride and will make them and EA actually wait a few years before releasing a sequel.

That's an understatement...

DAO = Shepard
DA2 = Conrad Verner

One of them, clearly, is a fluke. I'm kind of afraid to see which one.

DLC for DA2 has not been amazing and not worth the price tag, they should have been part of the game and I couldn't even be bothered with the last dlc for it because of the disappointment of the other two.

80% of DA2 felt like you were just buying/wasting time until the mage conflict near the end, 20% of it was the main story and then they just stop when it started to get really interesting. There really should have been more conflict between the mages and templar, more outburts and tension. The quests for Meredith felt like side quests. I shouldn't have to pay for dlc to enjoy more of the main story when so little was given in the game.

I like Conrad Verner, he was light comic relief, while DA2 was just light on the story Image IPB

I definitley won't be pre-ordering DA3, I'll just get it when I get it. DA3 definitley doesn't have that "OMG it's Christmas" excitement to it.

I can't wait for them to announce da3, already wishing to know if I can play as an elf and how much " better" they'll looks like in the future, if the NPC will mention hawke more often than the warden was mentioned in DA2 and to me DA2 DLC are 120% better than any of DAO dlc.

As far as I recall, you DID have potion cooldowns in DA:O.

...

But anyway, yeah I can wait. I'll have too, after all.

We've heard a few tidbits of info here and there and I'm liking what I'm hearing. Roughly 3 years of dev time and clever design choices will make a good game.

The features that the DA team has announced and/or hinted at for the future in Dragon Age makes it seem as though they are really starting to focus on the major points that make Dragon Age so special.

The future is bright indeed.

Really are you sure? I just remember shoving potion after potion to everyone when fighting the dragons in DA1.

3 years, that's a good first sign for DA3.

Yeah, pretty sure. It wasn't anywhere near as long as DAII's time, but it was for a few seconds. Also, it was just for that type of potion, so if you used a normal health poultice, you had to wait to use another but you could use a smaller or greater one if you wanted.

IMO Bioware is the best cRPG company around - when they are on their A game. When they made Dragon Age they really made something awesome. I love the lore of the world and was blown away with DA:O. I do not understand why they opted to change so many things engine wise for DA2 considering the very short development cycle it had. I assume it was to put the "AWESOME" button in to grab for new fans, etc. but the timing was really bad. By doing so much engine work they sacrificed the very thing that they are known for - Story and choice.

When you consider how much they changed it is actually a testament to the creative team that the game was as good as it was actually. I thought the companions were very well done, the combat was fun for the most part (I Loved the Rogue and Mage but the fighter was slower feeling to me and thus not as fun), and parts of the storyline were amazing. It was plagued with massive reuse of areas, your choices having zero impact on gameplay/storyline, etc. but all in all considering the massive amount of work done to the engine it is still amazing.

IMO they now have time to focus more on what they do best (Story and choice, etc.) as well as slight changes to the engine/art assets. Elves need to be tweaked to match lore (They are supposed to be beautiful and graceful not gangly and hunchback). They have shown that they can make some very nice DLC (Legacy was excellent and MOTA was not bad (not a big fan of Talis and the story had some serious lack of choices) ). I have high hopes for DA3 and hope my new hero can choose his race, etc.

I lost my interest for the dragon age 3 game after the total fiasco by DA2 and that some facts that bioware released wasn´t really up to my expectation,

Main reason: not continue the wardens story, considering that the wardens story in my case was turned into a cliffhanger after the WH when you simply walk away.

But this is only my opinion

DA3 would have to be damn near perfect for me considering how bad DAII was.

So... yes I can wait. I will wait. I think a minimum of 3 years is needed if they're using DAII's engine, and 5-6 if they're going to try and use a new engine like the rumors have been claiming Bioware might do.

I'm excited about DA3 so I occasionally use the phrase 'I can't wait for DA3'. That does not mean that I want them to release it right now. I can't wait for the sixth Felix Castor book, (that was said to be released by the end of 2011 but has yet to reach the stores!), but that does not mean I want Mike Carey to just throw a few chapters together and release it.

Yeah, technically there were cooldowns but in practice they were meaningless.

Being able to use potions in DA2 without totally trivialising the game or having to use self imposed limits was a great advance for me.

I'm a huge fan of DA2 but I think you have to be very generous not to see that it could have used more time in the workshop. As such I would be quite happy not to get DA3 until 2013, give them the extra time to meet their ambitions for the project. I'm just happy knowing it's almost certainly coming.

I can wait, I want my DA3 to be polished.

I can watch ponies take over the world in the meantime.
