Since it's a different thing than the Mass Effect: Infoltrator game, figured it should have its own thread.

"In addition to the the upcoming iOS game Mass Effect: Infiltrator, BioWare also announced an app called "Datapad" that would allow you to "stay in touch with all of the info in Mass Effect 3," check the status of the war in the galaxy map, and even get messages from game characters."

Is the screen really from the Datapad app? With the Xbox360 controller button cues? :/ Doesn't seem like it. I think it's a mock-up, they don't have anything to show yet.

Lots of marketing and tie-ins for ME3. I think it's going a bit overboard, especially with the DLC

Good catch, in the video from Kotaku they DID show this screen as suppousedly a representation of the Galaxy map in this Datapad app, so I dunno. Since checking the status of the Galaxy is one of the functions of this app then I suppouse it will look idential or very similar on the iPad. But yeah, this is probably how the Galaxy map looks in this Galaxy at War system on X360

As I said on the other thread, the problem is that owners of other phones just are not (on average) willing to pay for apps.  Even though Android has greater "market share" (false if you consider iPad and iPhone touch, but never mind), very few Android owners buy apps.

Developers always make more money on iOS.  So that is what they develop for.  If and when an app does well enough, then they might think about porting it for Android.  But not until they create a market on iOS.

And it won't change until there's an unified Android store. Don't try to blame it all on Android consumers

I am just saying the way the industry thinks.  If you go to an mobile developer with an resume full of Android development, the first thing they will ask you for is iPhone experience.

This is laughable. Why would it matter unless you're actually playing.

I remember the days when DLC used to be awesome, rather than a gimmick!

Oh wait, no I don't.

I hope it doesn't add any extra things to the game. I refuse to buy into all that technological nonsense like Ipods and Ipads, Mp3, and all that crap.

Maybe it will be an app for the consoles too? A bit like Halo Waypoint and Call of Duty Elite.

Video games and their systems could be considered "technological nonsense" also. It's all a matter of perspective. Those that buy Mp3 players and such love music. People that buy consoles and such love video games. There isn't really much difference there if you ask me.

...only you have the actual game on the console. Which you need to have for these apps to work anyway.

You aren't playing as Shepard in the iOS games.
