It's probably just you-know-who, they've already said you'd be able to buy it if you didn't get the CE.

Day 1 DLC and updates have been in nearly every major release for a few years now. Springing a surprise DLC on everyone right now would make little sense; also the name of the DLC makes sense for He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.

Yeah this is confusing.

Is there one DLC character or two? If so how do you get both of them?

Is from Dusk a whole new thing or is it the same character from the collectors version?

Someone PM me or something and help me sort it out. I have been avoiding spoilers. Now that I have been trying to figure out if I should get the CE or not its become veryconfusing.

Basically I just want to know if I will be able to buy these things on XBL day one and just get the regular version.

I also love DLC. As in content that is actually created and sold post-release which adds content to an existing game. Nobody is complaining about such content.

However ripping content from the main game and then marketing it before the core game is released and selling it seperately as 'DLC' (Zaeed, contents of the CE, now apparently From Dust etc) is something that should be put a stop to. Why not just release nothing but the main quest next time? Any side quests could be sold for £1 as 'DLC' with squadmates/companions for £10. And if you pre-order the game you get one squadmate free and a highly advanced cerberus ****** blaster gun.

You pretty much summed up my feelings on this. I love "expansion pack"-esque DLC. I don't like, hey we cut this from the game and now you have to pay for it if you want it Day 1 DLC.

The way we got ME2 and all DLC as a bundle, right? Oh, wait.....

So I just got back from my local GS and spoke with the manager who I am friends with and indeed it is in the system but was not supposed to be sold early...it now shows up has available in the near future. Regarding the collectors dlc, there is NO exclusive collectors's edition dlc character or mission. IF there is a free dlc character and mission with every new purchase, that will not show up in GS system until about a week out which is when they usually get bundling information. In his opinion this will be a day on pay dlc which may very well be separate form a bundled with every new game dlc...

I'm telling you, I'm not mad at Bioware for making day one DLC, I don't mind that at all, it's basically the norm now adays.

But to put out DLC and then not even tell us if it's the same thing as what comes with the CE, that pisses me off as all hell. I don't wanna go buying it just to find out it's the same! Come out and tell us already BIOWARE!!!

This is Gamestops fault not Bioware's. This DLC isn't supposed to be sold yet.

The ME2 collector's edition and later availability of the meaningful story DLC contained therein should have made it clear that Bioware/EA aren't going to keep anything substantial locked-away from a large section of the market, especially when they can sell it.  Of course it's the same.

Also, excusing day 1 DLC by saying that Gamestop wasn't supposed to sell it *yet* is entirely missing the point.

I'm not saying it's Bioware's fault. I'm saying I'm mad Bioware won't confirm whether or not this is the same thing or not.

Sure you can say it is because Bioware said they'd release the CE character sepretely. But that really doesn't confirm anything on this. It could still be anything. I want confirmation from Bioware that this is the same thing, it's only fair to do that for people when they're paying for the stuff.

Generally when games go into bugfixing, that's when DLC development starts, like Kasumi. A lot of the time it is content cut because of time restraints (also Kasumi), sometimes it's a preorder incentive (like DA2) or potentially both. Early DLC is rarely started post-launch, that's only for DLC well after the game comes out, like LotSB or Arrival.

This is actually the games day one patch, EA are going to start monetizing those now. ;D

What the hell are you on about? All I'm saying is gamestop jumped the gun and started selling something they have no information on.
