No, you can get the perfect ending without it. This just makes it easier (and probably gives you some extra weapons and armor to download, since lord only knows there aren't enough of those already).

Mutliplayer, apps, and some other stuff that ever gets announced is NOT needed to get the best ending. They are alternatives in case you don't want to do side quests and stuff for a long time to get it.

That is not what they said, what they said was you can reach the perfect ending without playing multiplayer.  Huge difference.

They said that the Galaxy at War system will not be necesary. This app is part of that system.

This is EA,  do you really think they wouldn't?   Look at how much DLC is out there right now.   You know how when DLC first came into the scene and everybody was worried that it would get out of control in the future only to be met with claims of slippery slope fallacy.  Well with ME3 we have officially hit the slippery slope into absurdity.

You're making this a bigger issue than it needs to be. Mass Effect: Galaxy was also an app that tied in to ME2 before its release, and you certainly didn't need it to get a perfect ending.

Don't get me wrong I still have some itunes credit left so I'll probably play it and enjoy it, i'm just fustrated. I really miss the glory days of video gaming back with the super nintendos and N64's where we didn't have to deal with this stuff.
